Coast Guard sounds desperate.

Netflix blocks any IP address associated with a data center, so I can't route my DIY VPN traffic to it.

But then it won't properly keep track of what I've watched and not watched? Would be even more annoying...

Extreme first world problem: when you own multiple homes and every time you move between them Netflix makes you jump through a bunch of hoops because it thinks you're sharing the account.

I think it had something to do with how difficult it used to be to ensure that water remained safe to drink. Alcohol is a great disinfectant.

The term is used by plenty of folks including philosophers and metaphysicians.

I fail to see how I'm making a strawman argument. I'm not even arguing that it's a fact, just stating it's a possibility.

I think it's best to consider "God" to be the word people use to describe whatever created the universe as we know it. This entity or phenomenon may or may not be conscious, may or may not care about us, may or may not even exist.

Seems intellectually dishonest to claim certainty that such a thing does or does not exist without verifiable proof either way.

If humanity has a Creator then there's no reason why that Creator can't also have a Creator. And so on...

Theologians call this issue "infinite regress" though I think it's better described as Infinite God Recursion.

The signs were there all along. 😂

Word on the street is that Roger Ver's new book about the block size wars is just as cringey as you'd expect.

I've actually done Tokyo before, so sure.

Last time I went I spent more time in the air back and forth than I spent on the ground in Japan!

Fair warning:

Prior to 2020 I paid for my own travel expenses to speak at conferences.

This past cycle, all I required was reimbursement for a quality flight and hotel.

I expect it will take even more to make it worth my while after this cycle.

Beware of folks looking for handouts due to airdrop scams on testnet.

Now that ETFs are roaring, is the exchange rate going to collapse every weekend and then surge during banking hours? 🙄

I gave a presentation on why lightning node in a box is a huge challenge back in 2019. The support load was so high for us that we decided to stop hemorrhaging money and discontinued the product line.

I forget the name. Something about testing endothelial inflammation. Should get results next week.

Long health update from a guy who doesn't eat vegetables! 🥩

Next month I celebrate 13 years of eating a low carb, high fat & protein diet. Started with a paleo diet, and switched to carnivore over 5 years ago.

Went from 260->180lbs. Currently 205lbs thanks to strength training. Working on gaining more muscle mass! 💪

For peace of mind, I requested a fractionated lipid panel and a coronary calcium CT scan. The panel not only gives a breakdown of cholesterol, but also measures particle size. The CT scan looks for calcium deposits in the heart's arteries.

First, my lipid panel results (fasted 12 hours):

HDL: 64

Triglycerides: 47

LDL: 223

LDL Pattern: A (large & buoyant - good news!)

Total cholesterol: 302

302 total! 223 LDL! I'm a walking heart attack! 😂

Dr immediately prescribed statins. No talk about diet & lifestyle, only a call from the pharmacy saying my prescription is ready. Uh, ok?

I've never smoked, I don't consume alcohol or caffeine, and I exercise daily, including weight training 4-5x per week. I don't do "diet cheat days" either. I'm very strict about how I eat.

I've had many lipid panels done since changing my diet, and they always look like this. So I wasn't panicked, but I still felt anxious waiting for my CT scan appointment. I'm always questioning my beliefs. What if I've been wrong all these years and my heart is a mess?

Good news - I scored a ZERO! 🎉

So I celebrated like any carnivore would - with 2 ribeyes Apologies for the lack of pics - I ate the steaks too quickly. 😅

Sounds similar to my recent experience I wrote about. Meet with cardiologist recently and he said he's not concerned because I have no family history of heart disease.

I am getting one new blood test that he says can predict the risk of my arteries getting inflamed.
