I appreciate the level head these guys have shown. Bitcoin is cool, seek to understand it and what it can do and can't do. It's not going to turn the world into a utopia tomorrow.

I see Nostr as having great potential, but until the ecosystem and features are built out, it will forever be a niche. dealing with sorting, loading times would be a great start

#Nostr

Here's the thought. We often talk about how busy we are or how many things we have going on like its a badge of honor. Having take a mental health day my mind has calmed and I feel I've been productive and had mastery of my time without having my employer's demands to worry about. What do you see as a pathway to take back more of your own time and being master of your own schedule?

I feel some of the same concerns Peter expressed recently. We've been educat to decentralized and be trust less for so long this will be a hard change to take. By moving to smaller federations network effect is lost. This and having to move to more trust with a smaller pool of people is counter the general idea of crypto being huge pools of disinterested parties.

Bitcoin has been described as a "store of energy," but it's crucial to recognize that this phrase is metaphorical rather than literal. The idea is that the energy used in mining is "stored" in the value of Bitcoin as a digital asset.

However, it's essential to understand that Bitcoin, like other currencies, primarily serves as a medium of exchange. It can be used to purchase goods and services, including energy, but its capacity to do so depends on the existing infrastructure and resources in a given area.

An interesting aspect of Bitcoin mining is its flexibility in terms of energy consumption. Miners can turn their operations on or off depending on factors like energy costs, which helps manage overall energy usage. However, this doesn't mean that miners "add" energy to the system. Instead, they can adjust their energy use to maximize their mining profits.

I was a bit behind but I posted a lightning address from wallet of satoshi until I can get a node running

:Yes, I know this may be U.S. specific: Ive come to believe that the answer someone gives to "what is your phone number" Says a lot about the size of the world they know. People in small towns will give a few digits, assuming you know the area code you'd want to dial. Those who have travelled or have seen more areas will give the area code, especially as you communicate across state lines. Those who are especially well travelled may include country code and or dialing prefixes as a matter of practice.

Is anyone else concerned about what will motivate nostr nodes to keep running. I get it that many play with it as a public good, but if we take bitcoin as an example, satoshi knew it had to motivate people to provide the infrastructure. Bitcoin has block rewards. What will nostr have?

I'm still getting started in Nostr. If I miss your post or misunderstand context I ask your patience as I try to figure it out.

If you arent aware, how about a electrostatic generator based on falling water?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin_water_dropper

I helped build one MANY years ago and it twisted my brain for hours before it finally made sense.

I've watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-T7tCMUDXU. Is this reasonably accurate or are his examples and analogues simplified for the video. His descriptions of charged water seems oversimplified and Im surprised that he didnt discuss the polar nature of water and/or dissociation of most compounds, which would indicate that yes some Loose H and O would be free as well as OH (hydroxide) groups, especially in the presence of impurities. I plan to look further into this but I am reminded what more than a few teachers have reminded me "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof".

Thank you for the info. I look forward to seeing further developments.

It says something that the U.S. economy has to be on top to survive. Like the schoolyard bully that is on top only because it smacks down everyone else
