That's awful, sorry to hear that. To lose one is bad enough, but to be stuck in the middle of that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Unfortunately its not always easy to spot these complete nutjobs due to obfuscation or naivety.
It's limestone heavy here and rains a lot. It's likely being locked up and washed out.
Do you still get with issues with slugs and snails?
I know people in Sussex where its naturally heath or coniferous woodland. So its acidic and usually free draining and I never heard of them complaining about these issues. The next county along where I lived was different soil (clay on chalk) but similar weather and I used to have real issues with them.

Last time we had a bad case of the riots I was in Pompey there were reports on Twitter things were kicking off outside London where the incident originally happened. We saw this massive smoke stack coming from a fire near the seafront so I decided to pack up what I was doing early and left the city ....turned out it was a electrical fault π

Thankfully it seems to have stopped here recently we only had it for a full year. I think it was becoming a little too obvious even the BBC had to write about twice to descredit the idea.

I am more concerned about what those people are going to do when they find out life isn't exactly how they though it was going to be. For all their stupid crap and laughably rhetoric they are still human at the end of the day and I would rather not deal with an entire generation of fucked up humans at any point in my life.
Don't you love all the variables! Even in the hamlet I do most of my gardening, heavy clay is predominant on one side of the road compared to the deep silt loam on the other!
When you buy compost you can test it for persistent herbicides by growing some runner beans in it. A lot of the pyralid group of herbicides will stunt growth but won't kill crops but beans are more sensitive to it and cheaper than any lab test. So perhaps give that a go and rule out that as an issue.
Either way perhaps hit it with some effective microbes and see if that improves you situation, it's definitely made a big difference to everything round here.

The worse than you realise too. Even after going through is that enough money for the price. Being only about 3 or 4 she still didn't get the value side completely. You can just get some money from the cash machine or I am sure you can buy it they gave you some money back when you bought the other thing π.
Yeah, the day my daughter told me just 'buy it off the internet' when I told her I didn't have money to buy the thing she wanted was the day she started having her own money.
When she went to buy some sweets etc at the shop with cash she would have to tell me the price of it and wether we had enough money in her hands etc. I think a lot of the Brave New World let's get rid of cash folks don't realise how abstract the concept of value and purchasing is and physical cash is a very useful tool in teaching that.
Perhaps we might need some physical Bitcoins after all π
