No negative connotation. Just happens to be the case that the bulk of those actually turning a profit with Bitcoin involved companies decided to go to the dark side and mess around with scammy shitcoinery like ordinals, runes, Liquid, and other nonsense. Anchorwatch and Casa are two profitable (or at least, potentially profitable) companies in the space doing some pretty great work in their particular fields. Ocean Mining pool is another doing God's work for an appropriate fee.

The more I look at NWC, the more I think maybe just having a lightning address is fine. Having zaps actually logged on Nostr so we can see most zapped content is nice and all but it's an absolute clusterfuck.

Likewise, the privileges extended by the state for marriage also should not exist, especially given that many pertain to not stealing from you what they otherwise would. Everything else should be accessible through freely entered contracts between any two or more people.

I must just have a long tongue or something.

Today, I gave up on being patient, and plugged my #Bitcoin #node 's hard drive into my laptop. Estimated completion for #IBD is 36 hours. Turns out a 2.8 ghz i7 with 16 gigs of ram is slightly faster...who'd have thought?

#GM folks! Still working on IBD for my new node. Got btc-rpc-explorer running last night, looking at other software that makes sense to throw on there. Today probably focusing on picking an #Electrum server. Anyone got ideas for how to go about picking one? Was thinking Fulcrum just because I saw it on some how-tos for setting up #Ashigaru wallet which I may want to do at some point, but am definitely not particularly well versed in the electrum server space. ElectrumX seems to be the big boy in town, but there are definitely others. I'd love to hear if anyone has any preference and rationale.

Building the software is an easy fix -- move the git repos to Tor. Sort of surprised this isn't more common yet especially afyer Samourai. Though you could also access clearnet repos from behind a Tor exit. Or just post to Sourceforge from behind a Russian proxy if your name rhymes with Batoshi Lakamoto.

Moving fiat around ourside their reach though is much harder, at least without chasing off the normies. Might not be long before you're buying Bitcoin for gift cards (which you can already do on Bisq).

That all said, it'd be a weird move to create a strategic reserve AND destroy demand for that asset all at the same time. Though perhaps the play is to try to turn Bitcoin into money for governments, and lock the plebs into fiat, much like Bretton Woods did with gold.

Run your node, stack your sats, and stay cipherpunk as fuck.

XP was the middle of the Windows versions I had the misfortune of using.

I'm old enough that when I used Redhat 8, it was the first time there was a Redhat 8 (pre-RHEL days).

And glad to be old enough to remember when most Linux was still Unix-like.

I'm more interested in the fiat liquidity waves from the perspective of systemic fragility and its impact upon geopolitics. And global supply chains of real goods. They are hard to predict given how much of a black hole the global Eurodollar market is, but there is sometimes some interesting information just ourside the event horizon.

As for what that means for bitcoin price...given that I DCA if anything it only is relevant for some orange pill convos with precoiners. If anyone gave a 1 year price target on anything else that was up in a range of 150% to 900% they'd be laughed out of the room, but with bitcoin, its par for the course.

Running #Bitcoin.

All I want for #Christmas is self #Sovereignty

Why choose between steak tips and ribeye

It's not even particularly volatile today...wtf was this, 100x leverage??

Deck the walls with toes upside down, fa la la la la, la la la la.

#GM, and #MerryChristmas.

#Jesus tells us, 'Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and render unto God what is God's.' Fiat is a tool of the state that steals your time, which the pious would attest rightfully belongs to God. #Bitcoin, through its scarcity, provides for an abundance, allowing us to be there for those around us.

I hope you all get to be there with those around you this #Christmas as we celebrate the birth of a man who wasn't afraid to attack the money changers.

After I've burned all the children, what do I do with the empty boxes under the tree?
