There may also be something to be said for monarchy there, but it's hard to say, as a monarch with high time preference would be an absolute nightmare too. Talking about political systems while hooked on fiat money is a bit like talking about religious belief while hooked on crack. Maybe let's worry about the addiction first, and then we can figure out if the politics needed to change in the first place.

Double spends are the least of our concerns. They're incentivized not to as it'd collapse their stack's value too. Censorship at the mining level is much more concerning if you ask me. OFAC rules have no place determining access to blockspace.

I'd say the best thing you can do to understand how bitcoin can be lifechanging is to understand what money is, how our money is broken, and how Bitcoin is an alternative that provides a better way forward. Bitcoin won't make you rich quick, but it will stop you from perpetually getting more and more poor faster than you want to. Nostr, meanwhile, will let you not answer to anyone when it comes to expressing yourself online, and connecting with people on your own terms. They're a pretty darn powerful combination.

one thing I'll point out about all of these people I've suggested is that they've all been on podcasts doing interviews which is where I heard about them in the first place. so if you'd like to learn more I would honestly just type their names into fountain.fm and listen to some of what comes up.
Honestly the projects I mentioned are the ones I'd look to first for the revolutionary purity factor. That said, if you just want the involvement in the space some big tradfi institutions are rapidly looking for people to work on their digital assets stuff too, lending, custody, and otherwise. If I hear about other interesting lending stuff that doesn't just sound like a gotcha scheme though I'll let you know.

Most people have a hard time seeing reality without so much attachment to it. Can't take a recognition of Anattā (not-self...even if it does often get translated as "no-self") for granted. As long as the happenings in the world are so dangerous, there's a lot of fear of ever looking at them.
