Maybe not (I'm skeptical), but other layers are heading in a good direction in that sense.
It's never going to be perfect. It's hard to tell, but this is the best humanity has ever had it. So obviously something has worked out. We can do better, but that doesn't mean no good has happened.

I'll send them a get well gift.

Banks can crave deez nuts if they think I'm ever using that shit.
I hope my brother sold that shit for Bitcoin when I told him to. 😥
I had no idea.
The ship is too far gone. I don't see Monero adoption ever catching up.
I'd be in favor of the first comment being 21 sats, with each additional costing more than the last. This would reduce noise AND make spam cost more. Especially for those fuck bots that do the chain comments. Obviously there are many ways to do this. Just having some cost would probably solve 95% of the problem.
What does open mean? What does respect private property mean? These are fundamental issues that not all cultures agree on, hence the borders. It's reasonable to at least know who is coming into a country if one wants to maintain values like property rights. Economics doesn't solve everything. But I do think politics/government and economics should be totally separate.
Anyone who isn't a known criminal or threat who wants to assimilate and provide for themselves should absolutely be free to enter the US.
It's xenophobic when Americans have any concern related to illegal immigration.
It's justified protest against gentrification when people in other countries riot and demand that Americans (who entered legally) leave.
Makes sense.
I have this saying I like to repeat to myself a lot when it comes to software development. "don't lie to your users"
It sounds obvious but so many developers don't get it, or at least don't see the whole picture and there is a moment in this podcast that illustrates my point perfectly.
At 42:00 Chris looks down at the recording software and it says "connection unstable". he gets upset, and starts asking why and how the connection could be unstable but because the software cant talk back it never answers his question... Obviously we don't want software to talk (yet) but my point is that it notified him that it detected an issue but refused (lied) to tell him the reason why, or how it detected the issue.
Was the connection unstable because it lost 50% of packets? is the latency over 5 seconds? is the recording software lagging due to CPU?
The software *knows* the issue, otherwise it couldn't have detected it. but the developer decided to lie to the user. probably because they thought the user wouldn't understand. but this just leaves the user in the dark and easily frustrated which leads to them quickly loosing confidence in your software.
Don't lie to your users, if there is an issue tell them about it and what it is. even if they don't understand at least you will still have a user.

P.S. nostr:npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 might be better to use OBS to record long podcast (vlogs) then some internet connected thing. but idk, I don't vlog :)
I experience this often and it is annoying.
everyErrorMessage = "There was a problem."
The KDE version of Fedora has been better for me. But they're both decent.
I doubt most will care. I've been a GNU/Linux user for about 16 years. I've been flashing software to Android phones (back when they were ROMs) since the early days. One thing I've learned is that life in that realm is much better if you just accept that most people won't care, which means most software will be chronically underfunded and imperfect. But, things are so much better than they used to be. I run Fedora and Graphene on all devices in my house and it's been mostly smooth for years now.
I had a rotor that didn't want to come off today. A nail hammer didn't help (even with my beloved Kroil). I pounded and pounded. Eventually I decided to go buy a torch and a four pound hammer. Luckily, that four pound hammer was no match. The sound of that rotor breaking free was so delicious. I didn't even open the torch.
There's a valuable life lesson here.
Sometimes you just need a bigger hammer.
That's all.
Ai is becoming the most invasive surveillance tool ever, it’s explicitly bypassing all encrypted communications, sandboxing, and privacy implementations so that it has “the right context.”
It is literally reading passwords off your screen. For a little bit of convenience, we are losing literally every major barrier we have built for privacy and security in one swing.

At what point do you just not run their software? Ffs
Cognitive Operational Security is the mental layer of your defenses. If someone can shape your attention, they can shape your behavior.
Stop being pavlov's dog. Let’s fix it.
https://untraceabledigitaldissident.com/cognitive-opsec-stop-letting-notifications-own-your-head/
24/7 Do Not Disturb (except for a few starred contacts) was one of my best decisions. Many notifications are disallowed entirely. I'll see when I choose to look. Cleaning up subscriptions has been helping too. I deleted everything except YouTube and Nostr. I feel a lot better, but I'm imperfect. I still catch myself spinning out. The difference is I notice and correct it very quickly now.
It would be cool to have dynamic sats as a price instead of USD (assuming you want the sats to always be equal to 499). You already pull in the price in dollars on the page, so I assume you can do math on that number. Just a small middle finger to fiat. It looks cool either way.
I was going to #wrinklestr #ironstr 😂
Almost certainly happens. It's a common (similar) issue with healthcare and psychology students as well. But there are also instances where people find things more often specifically because they are looking and haven't written it off or developed tunnel vision (an opposite problem in healthcare differentials). I don't know how to strike a balance with these things other than to have an open mind while leaning heavily on evidence, as you mentioned.
Nostr is the only place someone with a mouth like mine is permitted. I don't even bother commenting on YouTube much (aside from my mentions of #Nostr and #Bitcoin) because I get sick of warnings. I probably should use my fucks more sparingly... But probably not. We'll see what happens.
Is it possible some became interested and learned more after their experience?
I didn't even know about that. I will definitely do that next time.
But I'll break it down further. Let's say a kid has ten crayons. He wants more crayons, so he takes an empty jar and labels it "Crayon Fund." He adds nothing else to the crayon fund but tells everyone he created a crayon fund. He still has ten crayons. What the fuck did he actually do?
That's all Trump has done with the Bitcoin reserve. He took what we already had and called it a reserve. Great, but that doesn't mean he acquired anything. It sounds good. But it doesn't actually change anything until something more is added to the fund. It's a fun little way of jerking yourself off and not much else until that point. It's a very easy way of making idiots think you did something great without actually having to do anything of substance.
Will something of substance eventually happen? Maybe. But I haven't seen anything real yet. Just talk. I'm happy to be proven wrong. I'm imperfect.
But I also hate DRM and how it works. Totally agree on that.
I don't think the goal has ever been to make data impossible to copy. The goal is most likely to make copying certain data more difficult. DRM has done that, whether you like it or not. The industry wouldn't do it if it didn't work to some degree.
Even if fiat died, the "price" of Bitcoin would be set by a market of goods and would absolutely matter. No one would give a fuck how much Bitcoin you have in the absence of a price. Price is value. And it has to keep going up in fiat terms to at least match inflation. Otherwise, it fails. To say that doesn't matter is just retarded.
People say that like it isn't an absurd statement. "Price" is merely a measure of what you can buy with your Bitcoin. Bitcoin would be pointless if it couldnt consistently buy more over time (a higher price). It has to at a minimum keep up with what fiat can buy. But realistically, most people wouldn't bother adopting it for an equal trade.
Price absolutely matters.
Did you consider the middle? All boxes may not be the same size
I agree Islam is shit and shouldn't dominate the US. But neither should any other religion. They're all particularly awful when legally binding.
I understand some (probably most) businesses need to access fiat rails at some point. Totally fair. But Bitcoin products that can't be purchased using #Bitcoin are a joke. What the fuck are you doing? Lol
