There's isn't a way right now but that'd be a really cool feature!
Agree in principle — but I'm thinking from the perspective of a totally new user who doesn't have a nostr ID landing on the frontpage of Satellite. What feed do they see?
The question of how to design a trending feed in a way that is simultaneously
1) Interesting
2) Hard to game
3) Actually decentralized
leads down some deep rabbit holes
There is actually an algorithm, based on who received the most zaps in the past 24 hours. It's very primitive and basically a placeholder while I work on a better algo
Awesome — let me know if you run into any issues
Btw, nostr:npub107jk7htfv243u0x5ynn43scq9wrxtaasmrwwa8lfu2ydwag6cx2quqncxg , I noticed that whenever the Habla post is added to a community it still doesn’t get displayed on https://satellite.earth/
Works fine with https://nostr.kiwi/
Pinging nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj to see if this can be fixed. I think the issue is that Satellite does not recognize long-form posts.
Yep that’s the issue. Long form on todo
EXIT.pub 0.3 is out!
âś… reliability improvements
This version is a significant improvement on reliability. When publishing events
fails, or a relay stops accepting your events, EXIT.pub will gracefully handle this
and will allow you to resume the publishing where it left off.
âś… Satellite CDN support
Now you can opt to buy storage on nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj 's CDN to store
all your images, instead of leaving them hosted on Twitter's servers.
*I have NO affiliation with this CDN, I don't get a cut or anything like that, I just like his service and its documentation, it's very Nostr-centric (upload to your Satellite CDN account by signing a nostr event proving who you are!)
âś… EXIT.pub relay
Until now, many relays were rejecting backdated events; if none of your relays accepted any event, EXIT.pub would not give you any feedback (if you clicked "publish events" and nothing happened, this is what was happening)
I have properly handled this now so you know what's happening, as well as added an wss://relay.exit.pub relay that will allow these imports; if EXIT.pub sees that your relays are all rejecting your imports, it will suggest you use this relay.
âś… Published relay breakdown
EXIT.pub will now show you exactly which relays have accepted each event.
âś… Reimporting events
If a previous run of EXIT.pub failed midway and you have *some* events imported, you can reimport those tweets, your events will *not* be duplicated, even if you imported previously without Satellite CDN and now you use Satellite CDN, the previous event with the Twitter-hosted images will be deleted.
Check it out!
Whoa incredible work - I've had my head down coding the last couple days and just saw this. Super cool to see the cdn integrated :))
Zaps splits coming up!
It took me forever to get this UI right, but it was worth it.

Awesome! Looking forward to checking out your code - a while ago I tried but couldn’t find any resources on how to implement this
It will probably take me a couple weeks to get to this but I’ll get it done
nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj It would be really nice if video links could be embedded. Right now it just displays like this.

Yup link previews on todo
I wonder how long it would take nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj to implement this is Satellite. If he wanted to of course…
This has been on my todo for a while! Specifically for communities, a really cool use case would be admins/mods automatically receiving a portion of zap upvotes
One of the few clients that's actually working fine for me. A search option would be great, maybe ther is one but couldn't find it yet. Other clients like nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg #snort nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 and #iris are quite shaky in my browser.
Working on search!
I someone still developing satellite?
nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj are you still building or got other projects already going?
I love the client and it has more features then others thats why its amazing would love to see more!!
Yes absolutely! I’ve been working a major new feature for Satellite the last couple weeks which is why updates have been slower than usual - very much looking forward to getting it deployed as there’s a bunch of other stuff that needs attention
Still much to be done! nostr:note156zkmex4ym5c3h36f27qshlgrpdjtz868tqnvasdx5vdx6zhkj3q3zc5qv
I don’t see your community on Satellite. Maybe the bug has something to do with the fact that you are using “/“ in the name?
cc nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj
Yep that's definitely the problem — the "/" is breaking the way that Satellite parses the URL of the community. I need to fix the UI to disallow that! If you recreate the community with URL-safe characters like dash or underscore it should work fine.
nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5 Damus does not seem to show #tags in search when posted via the community on satellite. I thought it could be because they were in the title, but even comments don.t show. For example, nostr:note1cm2tv3jncwgkwl8nlpnqv6mr28c9v2fvnzkllfx9hdz44emw7ujsq6ruwf nostr:note1kqj33tplly8e5rd76nm5ka90xm3qjfql7n30mpruka6am26k2hpq7x785m
I’m trying with clients other than damus and seem to be able to fetch them there.
This was a bug - I’ve just fixed it and pushed an update, should be working now. Thanks for letting me know!
Paging nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj . Is this an abuse of your hosting service?
I'm not a lawyer, but isn't that like copyrighted or something?
They're like subreddits. If you make a community you're the admin and you can appoint other moderators as well. When somebody posts into your community, their post goes into the modqueue. If you or another mod approves the post, it moves into the main feed. People can upvote/downvote posts. There's also a setting where you can use zaps as the upvote mechanism.
