Yeah, maybe the world will always be 100s of different currencies. I think there's many digital currencys better than fiat, but wish for something more simple for merchants and people buying or using apps.
I think of it this way. BTC a currency on a chain with the most trustlessness where you don't worry about value dropping because a newer/better currency was just released since the value aspect is good as it gets, but just doesn't scale. I think people just need trustless payment solutions.
Could maybe have a token for a sort of governance purpose/ mining incentive but I think the future is more fun for users when that's abstracted and they don't need to buy such token to use it.
The biggest issue is KAS.
I used to buy ether before nostr existed, LTC when merchants accepted it because it was more usable than BTC at the time, and AUDIO before Fountain, thinking they must have a token for governance or there won't be any.
Solutions just keep coming out that replace the need for these others which use their own token.
I still own some of these as I've been slowly getting rid of random shit I got bought getting excited about unique solutions. Not totally against tokens for every reason, but that's probably the biggest thing wrong with it
I'd love to see something more like liquid that is decentralized instead of "federated". If that happens, kaspa may become as obsolete as other solutions.
Such a strawman that the shitcoiners use so people can market their shitcoins. Bitcoin does scale it just needs to scale through layers which is what is happening.
I have no issues using lightning and I wouldn’t consider myself a tech wizard. It’s not that hard and it continues to get easier (e.g., nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 allows you to run a self custodial lightning node on an iPhone).
Plenty of people working on alternative layer 2s that will complement and/or compete with lightning and liquid
Also nothing wrong with scaling through custodial solutions like the ETF or exchanges.
Again the key is we keep options open and available so everyone can self custody if they need or choose to do so
Not needing to trust ETFs is a huge reason Bitcoin exists and continues to grow.
If it's not self-custodial it's a bank account.
Lightning's just not there yet especially with small nodes. If that's layer 2, than most the world will interact with layer 3. Liquid is my new fav but still more centralized than some chains.
I think the world might not be prepared to find out just how expensive/slow Bitcoin will be one day. I'd rather use Bitcoin, but the gov will still fuck us all until merchants can accept it and our grandma's can spend it.
Sailboats are 👍 for laughter and friends. 10/10 would recommend.
Don't tell them about #Bitcoin.
Show them #Bitcoin.
Show them Https://NoMoreInflation.com
It’s the most powerful hour of #Bitcoin education in existence!
I guarantee it will elevate your #bitcoin conversations.
Thank you to God Bless Bitcoin for open sourcing your lovely animations. https://v.nostr.build/3zc24ZkYAqn6920N.mov
Very nice documentary.
Hopefully forgivable 😁I bought altcoins hoping for a decentralised social network before nostr existed. I was let down multiple times before I realized blockchain itself just doesn't solve that.
I recently discovered Aqua wallet which probably the first wallet I could recommend my mom. Though liquid is as centralized as many alt chains... Still though Bitcoin will be 1 and only but probably after easyness with privacy spreads to all users/most wallets. Till then people will want more and are impatient to wait for Bitcoin.
Thoughts on the Roger Ver/Tucker Carlson interview
First, let me be clear, I've had a somewhat combative history with Roger [1], but the man does not deserve to be in prison. The US Government's contention that a non-citizen can be guilty of tax evasion is just laughable on its face.
That said, there are a whole lot of lies and half-truths in that interview. First, Roger still seems to be giving himself credit for Bitcoin's early success. Yes, he promoted it a lot on different platforms, and indeed he was known as "Bitcoin Jesus" for a bit for his almost incessant proselytizing. But he wasn't the reason for Bitcoin's success and it was this belief that led him to say "I made Bitcoin what it is today and I'll do the same with Bitcoin Cash." Years of languishing BCH price (literally the same price as it was 2017 and that's not taking inflation into account) hasn't humbled the guy one bit.
He also shilled a lot of different altcoins, mostly focused around privacy. One of his goals on the show seems to have been to pump his bags and for him, it's probably not very different than his early Bitcoin advocacy. He's still a classic altcoin promoter and despite his utter lack of success the last 7 years, he continues down this path.
But the most egregious lie is this idea that his new book is the reason why everything is happening to him, implying that he has something so important to say that the US government must shut him down. The suggestion is that somehow Bitcoin was taken over by the US government and that they needed to suppress his book for the sake of government policy.
The lie wouldn't be so egregious if he sincerely believed it. But I don't think that's the case. Why? Because he still owns Bitcoin. The man is a salesman first, and his public pronouncements are almost always spin to get other people to buy what he's selling.
Personally, I don't think his arguments were compelling and he kept saying "cryptocurrency" which grated on my ears, but who knows how many people will be convinced by him? But then again, I always thought CSW was a fraud, but there were a surprising number of people that fell for his claims (including Ver, at least for a time).
Regardless, I don't think this presages some sort of Roger Ver comeback as he's been irrelevant for a long time. Yes, he may go to prison and become something like a celebrity cause, and he certainly has enough money to promote his suffering. And yea, he may get some fame from being something like political prisoner of the deep state. But it won't make his opinions any more palatable because they're demonstrably dumb.

Tbh though I remember the Reddit censorship. It's clearly created a culture of anything but btc=evil even when custodial and discounting any possibility that people just want more features in their freedom tech. Bitcoin maxis tend to respond to those peolple with literal hate since then.
His portion of btc holding probably relates to his care for success.
I've danced the line on him though especially when he used to spout "bch is real Bitcoin" which is clearly confusing for newcomers. Clearly bad but I think his 💜 still in the right place.
Remember when Dr Salisbury prescribed the Salisbury steak and hot water to cure any illness that wasn't physical injury, poisoning, and birth defect? Good times.
Oh wait I wasn't alive. We need more modern Salisbury's!
Seeing you build this bridge reminds me of Microsoft Azure horror stories. You got this Alex!
Almost as if they wanted to be the only one's.
When Physicists get bored 😂🤣 https://video.nostr.build/9c5b599622e6a398318c8362558ec55ba62453574c8c9ef2d930ce0e1d757a24.mp4
They pretty dang good! Must get bored a lot lol
I have trouble with nearly carnivore too. When I take in any carb at all my old addiction returns in a frenzy. If I hadn't felt so hopeless to do something drastic as strict carnivore for 90 days I wouldn't have ever found out my allergies, chronic back pain, heart burn and low energy could have been helped without the drugs I was taking.
Glad you're feeling 👍
After my life changed unlearning the pyramid and learning carnivore I'm not surprised at all you feel better. Glad to hear it!
And coracle for sure since it has these and even wot score setting. Although a bit abnormal interface.
Handled spam attacks fine enough
This is fuckery I can approve of lol
Heading to nostr headquarters rn but with a cigar.
Is that possible on a decentralized social network? https://jewelcitytimes.com/2024/12/02/bluesky-social-suspends-far-right-libs-of-tiktok-account/
It would be cool if a cid could prove ownership of the bridge connected npub and come on over keeping their nostr followers. Even cooler if it's after suspension.
Well excited to try it out lol as I was buying I saw further details on it about a radio-disabled firmware to install.
Is there a reason Amethyst doesn't make the list?
Will someone either put my mind at ease or tell me not to buy the nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n Jade wallet? #AskNostr
My keyst.one is air-gapped with a similar QR scan tech which works so conveniently well I don't even think about using the USB, but I see the Jade has Bluetooth.
How can one be sure the Jade hardware wallet is air-gapped if it has Bluetooth connections. One wouldn't think a USB should reveal secrets as it's only for signing, yet many promote the air-gapped security for a reason so I like to think that's exactly what it is when buying.
Looking for nice hw that works on cheaper layers such as liquid/lightning.
Take your Bitcoin sacrement and repent for the blasphemy!
Nostr mentioned on Joe Rogan episode with Mark Andreessen
https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkxa4Wb1S_HkWZ4nOJIdJmdTvXW5u8RogN1
I want to know who these satire liberal accounts on Bluesky mentioned by Joe are lol for academic purposes of course.
I'd assume they feel some comfort in thinking their not being scraped automatically or without some sort of log.
Real people though should be the leased of their worries.
Maybe I'm wrong but can't help but think ignorant people asked for it and the devs were like sure whatever just don't leave.
Either way respecting the feature in a bridge is probably good idea. People shall to be connected.
As if it heard my complaint, One per follow finally returned something lol
