Somewhat, from my observation where I work. Partially, because women do care more about how their actions will impact others. Partially because women are more risk averse, and seek security.

All generalizations, but from observations and experience.

It seems the root cause of many issues is people don’t think more than 1 step ahead. So these problems are just invisible to most people.

Must be so strange moving through life like that. Like driftwood getting pushed around by waves.

I’ve heard a lot that normies don’t care about censorship resistance, which is true, but only because they haven’t experienced the problem yet.

How do we get people to care about a problem that they won’t experience until they do?

Most people crave mental peace. You can get mental peace by believing that you already understand everything, that you are always right, that your country is good and it is only other nations and cultures that are bad.

And you can maintain this mental peace quite easily, indefinitely even, with just a few simple habits:

1. If anybody presents information that conflicts with your worldview, immediately categorize it as a lie.

2. If anybody challenges you do research the point, decide that you cannot be bothered.

3. Even easier, choose to disbelieve all authority. Now nothing can be researched, even in principle! Because every source is lying to you. So just make up whatever belief makes you happy!

Mmmmm.... I feel so calm..... and stupid.

Friend of mine is having trouble at her job. She’s essential to the operation but is working too hard for what she gets paid and came out of a meeting wherein her boss rejected her preferences as to what tasks to cut and which ones to keep.

He acknowledged her excessive workload, but insisted she retain some things she doesn’t like for the good of the company and give up important ones she enjoys (and in which she has experience and expertise), even though doing so would require her to spend significant time training an inexperienced person to do it, almost certainly less effectively than she does.

I suggested she should email him, describe the role she wants and say it’s his company and perrogative to disagree, but in that case she’s probably not a good fit any longer. If he caves, she wins, and if he lets her go, she wins by no longer wasting time at a place that isn’t meeting her needs.

Her first instinct was to say, “But if I quit the whole operation would grind to a halt, they’d be out of business!”

And I was like, “That’s called leverage. Use it.”

Some people have a misplaced empathy for others when they ought to be standing up for themselves instead. I think this explains why a lot of them vote for policies that favor criminals over the law-abiding, unchecked immigration over legal citizens and special preferences for some over merit-only, identity-neutral ones for all.
