Except for Substack, what is the simplest way to make a mailing list that can also be browsed on the web?

No one is doing the Nostr Weekly Report, so maybe I'll start it.

Self-hosted is better, if I can run the server in a single-binary that doesn't require a database server.

Normie tech, but I'm a huge fan of Discourse. It does require a bit of maintenance but I'm running a bunch of self-hosted instances issues without many issues. It's almost like a modern phpBB + Google Groups replacement. https://www.discourse.org/.

the email threads it creates are so bad though

Really? What exactly don’t you like about it? I don't have much of an issue with it. I guess the header with the user picture in every email is a bit unnecessary, especially for groups where I'm receiving every single post as an email. The main thing is that emails display well on both desktop and mobile across multiple email clients for me, even for heavily formatted posts with things like code excerpts. I can't complain.

Also, I understood nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 as wanting a newsletter, not a mailing list

Yes, that. Thank you.

Realized it needs Postgres though

why not an npub that publishes long form articles once a week?

Good question. Why not?

well, I'm not aware of a site that will render a blog like site for a collection of articles published by an npub. I'm working on that.

npub.pro but we don't have email newsletters yet

Tipo uma forma de criar grupos de postagem? Eai agrupar por mês?

buttondown.com might be worth checking as well

I second Ghost. Been using it for years. You can publish articles and also send them to your mailing list at the same time. Easy to self-host with Mailgun.

Simplest? Probably Hey.

Easiest way is probably Google Groups.

If you want to host it, you will need a mail server, a mailing list server, a web server and possibly some kind of web app. There may be an all-in-one solution somewhere, but I'm not aware of it.

I'm confused. Are these meant to test a feature? Or weed your follower count?

He doesn't like that some applications implemented note editing, so he is spamming to make it worse for anyone who has an application that has it.

Standard Notes can publish to listed.to which has rss and email subscribing. Can bring your own domain and has a nice UI which I believe is customizable.

When people reply only the author receives a response though. So if youre looking for a forum it wont give you that.

This looks good, I'll try it.

Why is this spam upvoted?

Are you on Amethyst? If so, here's the short version: this is Fiatjaf's real account. He is spamming edits on purpose because he disagrees with how the short note editing feature has been implemented. He is also abusing non-standard Amethyst text formatting to make it especially annoying for Amethyst users. Vitor won't cave, as many users (including myself) heavily use this feature. So, it seems the edit wars have ended in a stalemate. You can read Fiatjaf's original message by clicking the "edited" label at the top.

Yeah, I'm on Amethyst. That explains why it spams. I'll just block fiatjaf, then.

Someone has to implement a "Fiatjaf post fix" checkbox on Amethyst. It should detect Fiatjaf npub and display the original post (only if it's from Fiatjaf or one of the other devs that are doing it 🤣).

If he doesn't want Amethyst users to read his posts, so be it. Making a miserable experience for the uses of Androids most popular nostr is a great way to tell new users to fuck off, they're not wanted. They've chosen to use the most popular Android Nostr client, and that pisses him off so much, he resorts to childish crap.

How dare Amethyst users do something he doesn't like. THEY MUST HE PUNISHED!

If Amethyst users that don't want their feed full of his nonsense, block him.
