Hackers 5 times

Great answer. Do you have a wallet connected. I dont see a zap key

correct answer

https://youtu.be/Rn2cf_wJ4f4 the only one I know because it's my favorite 🤣🤣🤣

hahha

The Matrix

Tron

Blade Runner 2049

I, Robot

Ex Machina

Blade Runner 2049 was excellent. I should research it. Not on my list tho

- Akira

- Elysium

- Antitrust

- Password: Swordfish

- Grandma's Boy

Replace Akira with Ghost in the Shell, actually, way more "computers" moments

I’ve never seen any of these 😬

I'm a millennial, fwiw

You probably don't care that I'm a millennial, but I just assume you do because I'm a millennial

Haha. I’m gen X and we don’t care about anything because we were always alone.

One of my favorite scenes from Antitrust is where they take fingerprints off the | key after the hacker protagonist used the children's keyboard to do hacker stuff because kids don't use pipes when they use computers apparently 🤷‍♂️

LOTR 1->5

Rudy.

Die Hard.

Beauty and the Beast.

The Big Short.

Citizen Kane.

Damnit. Sorry. I panicked.

Isn’t the right answer The Matrix watched five times?

Sneakers x 5

Yes. Sneakers. Literally the only cypherpunk movie in this thread so far. Maybe the only cypherpunk movie ever made?

"NSA. We're the good guys, Marty."

Blade Runner 2049

Tron Legacy

Johnny Mnemonic

Total Recall (The newer version)

Ex Machina

Also worth noting that although it's not a movie per se, the Netflix series Altered Carbon would trump all of these, it's absolutely phenomenal.

Wow Johnny Mnemonic. Haven’t heard that name in a long time.

Reminded me of the movie Dark City

Another great one

District 9

Future Sex

Weird Science

Videodrome

Hellraiser

And Hackers

District 9 was really good.. but when part 2

Man. Don’t think it’ll happen. Neil Balloonkamp did those amazing oats studio shorts tho. “Don’t make me shoot a prawn”

🤛

Johnny mnemonic

Existenz

The Final Cut

Max headroom

Strange Days

bonus: Dark City (it just is, okay?)

Excellent list

I love cyberpunk...

Max Headroom was awesome 😎

Blade Runner

The Matrix

Hackers

Existenz

They Live

Been a solid decade since I’ve watched Hackers

Gotta check in on zerocool

They live 🔥

What are yours?

It makes me sad how few cyberpunk movies exist.

True but also, cyberpunk is a philosophy. Many moves can connect with it.

Emperor's New Groove

Cc #[4]

Few.

Incredible film

Passion of the Christ

The social network

The Animatrix

The Godfather

😂😂😂

That movie will soon be banned from Netflix and other centralized platforms due to cultural appropriation…

I’d argue the prequel parts of Part 2 may be more punk than the first. I mean he’s a kid that evades the local boss and immigrates by himself. A sovereign individual indeed.

Because of all the hugging?

Sneakers

Mr. Robot

Zero days

Hackers

Sleep Dealer

Existenz

12 Monkeys

Dredd

Johnny Mnemonic

1) Fight club, should be on everyone’s list

2) Waking Life, inspiration to both make the most of life and not take it too seriously

3) Donnie Darko, for the weirdo in us all

4) Momento, extremely unique

5) The Matrix, too cliché not to be on the list

The Gods Must Be Crazy - to be totally free and sovereign with no technology at all .. not even a coke bottle

W

Wow, I forgot about that one

Hackers

Sneakers

Strange days

Minority report

Blade Runner 2049

Bonus:

Neuromancer (somebody make this.)

seems everyone' saying their favorite 5.

I'd recommend A Brighter Summer Day by Taiwan director Edward Yang.

Hackers

The first Matrix movie

Snowden

Silk Road

Swordfish

The Matrix

Hackers

Blade Runner

Ghost in the Shell

Blade Runner 2049

That’s the goddamn list!!

- The Matrix. Massive caveat in that only the original one is a good cypherpunk movie (Reloaded was alright but that’s because of the fight choreography).

- Deus Ex Machina. Especially relevant now given the hoorah about AI

I see what my movie nights are going to look like for the foreseeable future….

Matrix

Fight Club

Blade Runner

Robocop

Inception

The Ramones

Bad religion

Propagandhi

At the drive in

Green day

V For Vendetta

ghost in a shell

Besides the usual Matrix, Ex Machina, Her, I robot and so many others, one different that hits so many stuff for me in the Cypherpunk zeitgeist is Wall-E
