I bought a ergonomic seating cushion - feels like a scam doesnāt really change a lot.
How do you sit healthy when working hours in front of the laptop?

I switched to standing desk but will also be using a stool. Sitting screwed up my posture.
Hadn't thought to use a stool with a standup desk... Main reason I wouldn't use the standup desk was because it was annoying to adjust my monitor height so frequently and the tilt would never be perfect. Thanks for the tip!
They have ones that you can sort of lean on standing. I havenāt tried it yet but will soon.
Standing desk that I can raise and lower. Sit and stand and go for walks or gym.
Itās something i have problem with. The best I have seen is just a yoga ball and just training yourself the core to stand up right. Or a comfortable stool and doing the same
Cushion to sit on or for supporting lower back?
As others correctly point out, standing upright is best. Get an adjustable desk.
Spend years working in IT, long hours sitting in front of a computer with bad posture, and your body will naturally adapt to its environment! š¤£
Seriously though, for me the important things are a good desk, good chair, fairly large and good quality monitor so Iām not looking at a tiny laptop screen, and regular breaks. I generally go out for 15-30 minute walk every couple of hours to break the day up (fortunately I have flexibility to do that with my job).
Read āBack Upā by Liam Mannix and youāll realise ergonomics is indeed a scam, and the same goes for info out there on back painš¬
The only way to ergonomically work on a laptop is to dock it and use it as a desktop. Otherwise it is better to lay down in some recliner chair and change positions frequently instead of sitting at a table hunched over a laptop.
I bought a standing desk converter so I can alternate between standing and sitting throughout the day. A lunchtime walk helps too.

I canāt imagine you sitting on this one.. you use this?
I've seen vids of it popping. nope
Green man green ball
imo the hack is to change positionsāchair, squatting, standing, gymnastic ball, whatever (:
āWobbleā chair. Rounded base, central shaft, rounded triangular cushion top. Adjustable height so you can lean or perch on it. Been doing this for years. The rest of my coworkers went through 3-4generations of chairs during my 20 years there. Google it!

Get really good at planks. 2-3 min practically evaporates low back pain.
If you must sit, spend on a good office chair.
I have been using Steelcase Series 1 for many years and can recommend it.
I got the idea from the company I used to work for. They definitely did a good research to make sure their thousands of employees don't get back pains from long hour shifts.
Tai Chi, it protects your family, rids bully's, fix back pain and cures cancer
sit on the floor so you feel more inclined to stretch and move in different positions.
or a regular office chair with an infrared/ red light mat. i use the higher dose one, and the therasage one. would recommend therasage since it has more use cases and is easier to travel with.

You canāt. You need to change the working hours and the laptop.
The Purple seat cushion changed my lifeā¦I never really struggle with back pain but the ischial tuberosities āsit boneā pain was uncomfortable at worst. Now when I sit for extended periods of time, I do so pain free.
Straight back, frequent breaks š¤·āāļø
Stand all day. With a stool to lean back on occasionally.
most chairs and desks people work from are completely unsuitable for any longer periods of work (also a reason why travel sucks for any kinds of productivity)
90 degree knees, no tension in the shoulders.
Change your chair settings around, don't let your body lock in to one position.
Been working from home on a computer full time since the beginning of covid and this is what I've arrived at for not letting that computer time tear my body and mind down. Hope it helps people here. Hope to learn new tips I can integrate from the other comments.
Stool instead of a chair, standing desk, desk treadmill, balance board, cushion floor mat. Any one position or repetitive movement all day is bad. Constantly switch and move your body. The 3 point bridge specifically for the hunching but also any mind body connection yoga or pilates ish movement is also a great way to spend a break for a desk worker.
!!Hunching over your phone is not a break from your laptop for your mind or body!!
My highest productivity is usually on my balance board, but I limit it to 1 focus sprint a day because my day total productivity is best when I switch things around.
All of this movement should be slow and easy, it is just about not being still. Slow easy movement improves recovery between your other workouts. It would be easy to do those movements too hard or too long and start to accumulate stress that hurts your workouts. This is another reason for the constant switching, a 20 minute walk is refreshing but a 4 hour walk tears you down. I feel this more and more as I age and wish I made more varied low intensity movement a part of my life earlier.
I also leverage other biological functions to move throughout the day. I have a bathroom on the floor I'm on, but I go upstairs to use that one instead to get that little extra movement. Then I go to the other end of the house and wash my hands in the kitchen to go that little bit more movement before I return for my next focus sprint.
Not movement and stiffnss specific but sort of related. I'm also autistic so I really feel the dopamine lulls of boredom with the same mental task on the same laptop all day. All this novelty in my body is key to not burning out on the repetitive brain work. Music, no music, different music genre intentionally switched around can also drive novelty while doing the same task on the same laptop with your mind. Usually podcasts, audiobooks, and music with lyrics is too much of a distraction for the level and type of focus I need for my job but they might fit into your rotation.
HTH HAND as us old timers used to say.
By "mind body connection" during a break you mean "2 hour Dwarf Fortress black hole", right?
Does rocking back and forth while softly moaning because programming is hell count?
Here is my story. grateful

We stand, allows us to justify eating more š too
Standing desk
There are no such thing as ergonomic XXX. We all have different bodies and muscles.
I found out that if Iām sitting super straight, almost like Iām about to stand up, I can seat for a whole day without any pain whatsoever.
Pretty similar to a stool sitting position but with back support ā .
And having an electrically adjustable desk is mandatory so you can tweak the height to the cm and change from time to time based on your comfort sensations.
Standing is only good for short amount of time. Standing for too long will make your body go into weird twisted leg positions and rekt your back.
Instead, buy thick foam and put a cover around it. Pillows for your back. A chair where the backrest can tilt backward. Stand up every hour, even for small things
