Does anyone know of a GitHub issues like project management tool that you can run locally or self host?

I donโ€™t want complex PM tools.

No need to be integrated with Git.

No milestones, etc

No kanban and other trendy unproductive list things

Just issues.

vim

Vim would be great as the editor, like mutt. I still want something beefier than text notes

Have you tried Notion? Itโ€™s not โ€œself-hostโ€ but has APIs for some extensibility depending on what you need.

Yes, donโ€™t like it.

Obsidian might be a look. Its not directly an issue tool, more general purpose

Self host todo from sourcehut?

maybe you need a wiki? Like, mediawiki.

Gitea and just use the issues tab?

I used this back in the day. It's was great.

Still going by the looks of it.

I'm getting into https://taskwarrior.org/ command line task management. So far so good.

just hire an assistant already

No gate keepers I live my life in sudo

Obsidian + community plugins you like

Emacs + Org Mode

Cross platform. Runs and saves text file locally

Can be the simplest task mgmt, or you can go deeper with tags, agenda views etc

If you want to syc it, simply use syncthing or dropbox

If you want to use it on the go, simply use Orgzly (Android) or BeOrg (iPhone)

Just for you or a team? Excel can go a long way.

If just lists, use excel/open office. The URL function can be the path to a directory or file, accessible with 1 click.

It maybe TiddilyWiki.

Have you tried Gitea? Its completely self-hostable, but you can see it in action at https://codeberg.org/explore/repos/

- Obsidian

- Logseq

- Nextcloud Spreadsheet

Gitea has issues. It's selfhosted git basically. MIT license. But it's the entire git suite (not just issues in isolation). I have been meaning to switch from github.
