Started early today on a 13 deg. morning. Got all collected yesterday. 768 taps this year. 2nd collection, average about 1.5 gal/ tap(some .5 some overflowing) and my sugar is great range 2.2 brix to 2.9 brix.

That is awesome, just finished running the gravity vacuum lines and starting to barely drip here in Norhtern MN, hoping it really kicks in next week. Enjoy the season!

How many taps do you have on vacuum? I'm trying to figure out at what scale it becomes worth it. Not sure how far the line runs can go either.

My runs are all 10-12 trees. I use 3/16 tubing so I have found this to be a good number to fill the lines. As long as you have an elevation change I haven’t found a span that doesn’t work but also all my trees are at most 25 ft apart. We tap 100 trees a year, I have half on gravity lines now.

As someone who sells firewood on the side, I was curious how much wood is consumed in this process. AI tells me one cord of wood can produce 20-30 gallons of syrup. That seems pretty impressive.

alot of industrial sugar makers went to nat. gas, steam, or fuel oil. 1 cord for 20-30 gallons maybe if you run RO. I am not as efficient as a backyarder. I'll go through about 15 cord to make 125 gallons. This wasn't done yet in november.

Doing my first collection tomorrow, got 145 taps this year. Looking forward to seeing where my sugar content is at. I'm rarely over 2brix

I’m looking forward to placing an order!

Collected yesterday, lots of frozen sap so my numbers are skewed. Sap was at 3.5brix. That's a lot less work for my RO to process. I think I can get close to 7brix before I start boiling. Building the new and improved bitcoin mining sap heater today.

freezing: poor man's RO. Great numbers. I had a bad morning, transferring some syrup and walked out of shop and forgot. lost 5-6 gal. finished but not filtered yet. at least I didn't burn a pan.

I spoiled two full collections of sap last season. It's painful but valuable lessons and feedback. Looking forward to starting the boil. Don't have an evaporator built yet, but maybe I'll rig something up before the month is over. Feeling like it's going to be a sort run this year.
