I still glance over HN headlines that occasionally have news, but other than that don’t bother with any news. Some things that have made a huge positive impact on my life:

- no news

- no Twitter

- 24/7 do not disturb mode - no calls, no notifications. Block all notifications

- stop consuming massive amounts of random information

Latest trick is no nostr on weekends - amazing how much better I’ve felt doing that!

What are your life hacks for a more relaxing life?

Dang I kinda like all my podcasts of random information 😅. But prob right it makes me a little crazier

That’s a great list.

I’d have to agree this is better for overall stress levels.

The first two and last I’ve followed pretty well, only follow a few topics I care about but turned off all notifications to avoid being pulled in.

The phone is surprising though. I would say it’s nearly impossible to let go although recently I’ve been forced to because of an issue porting a number. So for a week now only a few actual work calls come my way and it makes a huge difference. It still feels weird and unfortunately I’m sure some work related items are being missed because of people having access to me on multiple numbers.

My life hack so far has just been a dedicated "no screen day". I will just spend all day long in my bedroom listening to audiobooks - my alarm clock doubles as a CD player =) Even has a remote. So it's the perfect "shove CD in, listen to the end, swap" device!

Those are all great. I go a step further sometimes and physically put my phone out of reach. Made me realize I was numbing myself during uncomfortable thoughts/moments. But also just generally less present.

My list is similar to yours but I haven't gone no nostr yet. Its been nicely filling a gap in my social life 😂

I also like to prioritize time for hands-on creation, usually varied between art, cooking, writing, diy projects, or learning various skills... and always with music. Making sure I have a few hours a week doing for that, instead of parking in front of a movie brings me much peace & inspiration. The obvious factors of diet, meditation, maximizing time outside, and physical activity help too.

Walk in the woods everyday. Meditate upon waking, and before sleeping.

Journal in the stoic tradition, after nighttime meditation with a clear head to give day perspective.

What good did I do?

Where can I improve?

How well did I interact with those around me? Did I treat them with respect owed?

Did I concern myself with things beyond my control?

Did I spend my scarce time wisely?

Were my actions today in accordance with the person I wish to be or become?

I think a lot of people do no Nostr/social on weekends. I notice Nostr and Stacker News get quieter on the weekends.

That’s awesome. I’ve no tv for years, and started a new Twitter with just bitcoin

go for walks every day
