Homeschool is the best school known to man. Prove me wrong, I’ll wait 😊

Absolutely the best. It is the best for gifted students, typical students, and special needs students. My personal experience is with the gifted and the special needs.

We’re familiar with special needs!

Couldn’t agree more as we homeschool our 3 kids as well!

1) They get the real deal 24 hours a day education from you already

2) there’s no hidden agenda

3) you get to go on as many field trips as you want

4) there always food (and coffee) involved

5) when you find something you never learned, or learned inadequately, you can just re-learn with them!

6) when they complain (and they do) you can always show them how miserable their peers are at the government school (creative license may be necessary)

7) if desired they can usually get college credit for some classes they take in higher “grade” levels.

But it doesn’t have to be hard. Go easy on yourself at first, til you get the hang of it. If you can’t get the hang of it find some folks that make sense and learn from their successes.

We were horrible at first. Thought we were messing up our kids permanently. We were wrong. The one we have left to finish up is doing well.

It will depend, on the parents doing the homeschooling, and the schools they would otherwise have access to.

The parents can step up and not delegate their kids to the state. It’s their duty. True though that we’re not all gifted the same.

If it's a decent, non-abusive parent, which is the norm imo, their child will be blessed to learn how to live from her parents.

Separation of kids and state 👍

I see what you did there! Perhaps a merch opp?

Absolutely loving this vibe! It's all about comfort, no pressure, and diving into what actually interests you. Lately I've been getting super into yachting stuff, just been reading this super practical beginner's guide to yacht docking, and it's way more interesting than I expected! If you're curious: https://www.yachttrading.net/blog/2025-beginner-must-do-berthing-guide-before-buying-a-yacht-872

Keke I would love to see a video showing us what you learned about yachting/sailing. I remember sailing on my friends boat in the Bay Area in the 80’s. It’s amazing we didn’t kill ourselves. He had some good basics skills down though, so fortunately the alcohol didn’t affect our safety… very much

If we do this in Australia we are still obliged to register with the government and follow their curriculum. Is it like that where you are?

In our state we have to only let them know we’re homeschooling our child. So it’s a notification only, no other requirement. It’s one reason we moved here. Overall in the US we recommend becoming members of HSLDA. Probably the best peace of mind for any legal “troubles” https://hslda.org/ NFA

If you don’t trust the State with your money, why would you trust it with you children?

Might despend on the home. I agree for me it's the best option.

You win. I’ve got nothing.

Love it. Actually no, sir, YOU get the win

Here’s a follow up. For those of us who don’t feel we’re ready, inadequately prepared and just downright unable due to time constraints or existing job pressures, may I propose an alternative perspective?

Kids are already learning from you. Everything. Even when you think they’re not, they are. And they’ll hold you to your actions and words (if they’re honestly able to, without fear of reprisal). You can do this, and they will live you for it (later, perhaps much later, even if they don’t say it now).

Time constraints: this one is a big one, but one we all need to look at. Choose who will indoctrinate your child, your most precious, second only to your spouse. Will it be the state? Will it be a childcare worker? Will it be the kid down the street, after school? Who do your kids spend their time with? When they’re small it’s easy. It’s when they get very mobile and go places without you that the world gets into their mind and their hearts.

I could be wrong, and I’m willing to consider alternatives, but I live with the conviction to homeschool. It’s a complete sacrifice of my wife’s time (she takes the lead and I support). It’s hard to consistently be good at but with a low time preference and commitment to my kids development I think there’s nothing that compares. Kind of like there is no second best.

What about no schooling ?
