Iโd vote yay (switchable), as I often miss follows that Iโd follow back if I knew they were here.
Iโm a nay but I think itโs inevitable. The people will ask for it.
As long as they can be toggled off separately from other notifications. I wouldnโt mind seeing a new followers list.

That said, my notifications in damus 1.4.2 are broken 99% time lately. Not showing a lot of new stuff, not showing new zaps... kinda useless rn.

Ok, this one again showed up instantly and is listed correctly. While it has also revealed all the zaps that came between your zaps.
So it looks like your zaps are updating the notifications, but maybe zaps from different clients are not?
I suspect the inbetween zaps were sent from plebstr users probably? So the nostr clients somewhat distrupt some internal functionality?
But again, your zaps didn't reveal any older zaps to the notifs and I'm sure at least some of them were sent with damus.
Damus doesnโt show invalid zaps, maybe thatโs why?
No clue, but if I go to the note and tap on the reactions, I can see everything correctly. Also the dot at the bell icon appears and sometimes I even see a banner to flash for a picosecond... and there is no record of it listed in the notifications.
I sent you some DMs with further findings, so I'm not spamming it here.
The most interesting find is when I send you a @ link to a note id, the zap from the note "magically" appears in the notification tab too. But not before that.
And it's all gone after exiting damus and starting it again. One random old zap is showing, nothing else. Weird.
and another zap came in and that's not listed...

Personally would never use them because I donโt want the noise.
But - think it does have value for others/businesses.
I think as long as itโs not a massive usage of resource, people like the options.

No. Even though follows are public it still feels like a privacy leak to make it 100% transparent when this happens. I don't even really like making it a setting.

Comparing with my prev experience on Twitter. I have noticed, but couldn't care less about not having it.

The opposite end of the spectrum is a person like #[1] #[2] #[3] #[4] #[5] who would most probably be annoyed (I guess) by the insistent follow notifications ๐
