Makes Hillary’s emails a joke compared to this fuck up. Despite Signal being the best at what it does, using Signal for government communication was their first mistake.
Most of the military uses WhatsApp 🥴
signal is great, this would have been strictly worse as an email thread
Agreed but this is not the right tool for managing sensitive organizational access.
I agree with both of you
Signal is an excellent application but security requirements at such a high level mandate an exceptionally high-security device and operating system as well. The weakest link is the device and operating system they're using. I'd be very disappointed to hear if they had been using their personal iPhones or Stock Android devices for this (and it seems like they are, why the hell would you have a random journalist on your phone?). State actors would laugh.
Sensitive Compartmented Information are meant to be handled in unique facilities...
There's an improvement if they had a high security operating system (shameless plug) but even then it should be more bespoke in my eyes. The whole purpose of the device should be just to communicate over their service and nothing else.
JD Vance using Signal for anything Top Secret is ludicrous. Keep it professional.
Professionalism doesn’t exist in this administration.
It was not long from his first tenure back when they were talking about how Trump was using a Galaxy S3 as his everyday device.

I don't have any confidence in state leader personal device choices. It's worse across the pond too:
Weakest weakest link is the user operating the system 🐸
Yeah in no way is it acceptable for the American Vice President to use Signal
or Security Cabinet members for this. There’s an entire agency that supports secure communications for White House principals; WHCA. It’s appalling dismissive and dangerous for them to have used civilian comms. WH staffers can use signal under certain circumstances; time bound, brief. But what occurred was a new low for sure. https://osd.wps.recruit.mil/whca/
It’s like a friends group chat, talking about bombing civilians
I thought this was fake when I first saw it.
Incredible
Smells like sabotage
Hard to believe they are that incompetent
Yep... there's totally an evil plot to make these Towering Giants of Men, Statesmen Striding Across the Pages of History, look like a bunch of self-absorbed ignoramuses.
Hard to believe you’re that stupid
Absolutely insane. The level of incompetence is astounding.
It’s not that crazy. They accidentally included the wrong dude in an otherwise secure message. And he didn’t speak up about it, likely because he’s a reporter…
yeah happens every day lol
I mean, it’s still a screw up, but 1- the guy that was accidentally included certainly could have spoken up AT THE BEGINNING of the texts and acknowledged that he didn’t belong.
2- Signal is probably equivalent to, or IS the chat service that they would be using anyway, so 3- it really just boils down to someone accidentally including the wrong dude. (And, apparently not including whoever he meant to include.)
Imho this is the best part 😂
"Hegseth wrote to the group - which, at the time, included me - “We are currently clean on OPSEC.”
new DoD ... who dis?
🤡🤡🤡
Nice of Jeff to not dox the intelligence officer
agreed, reasonable retractions in there
Memecoin Pump and Dump coordination except it's for War Planning
The security flaw of signal is you really don't know who's in your group
Wow that is wild!
Trump said it happened. Hegseth said it didn’t. Republicans are the dumbest people alive.
No way was accidental
this has to be on rabbit hole recap lol
Really? The military has moved to apps for critical comms? Seems odd to me. They hadn’t been using apps in the past, seems short sighted to do so now. Or deliberate.
I better read those text messages I keep getting from Nostradamus... just in case.
Some say that miscommunication used to be a treason to resign, but nowadays it merely sends a bad signal.
The guy they accidentally added is a Zionist who served in the IDF
He was never going to do anything useful with the opportunity
Quality
This whole thing doesn't jive. But what else is new with American government?
Reading the comments is killing my brain cells. Guys, it’s not a conspiracy or hoax, their offices literally confirmed it was all real. It’s also highly unlikely it was purposeful. Why would Vance want to publicize that despite what he says publicly he has lots of disagreements with Trump’s policies?
There’s also nothing wrong with using Signal, it’s a great super secure messaging app. Do you want the US to spend money to develop a worse version of Signal?

And I don't believe a word of it. We're being played all the time by actors
