I have heard a lot of discussion about cultural marxism over the years.

If what I have heard is correct I see it everywhere, but I would like to understand the origin of that concept.

Does anyone know if or where Marx wrote about any of the following:

Family destruction

Cultural demoralization

Intentionally spreading mass confusion

Communistic tendencies have less to do with Marx & more to do with human behavior patterns.

Even Bitcoiners, look at the takes that claim Elon has zero talent & is just a product of govt subsidy.

Classic communistic takes on the most successful tycoons of most any era - funnily predictable.

Interesting comparison there..I think pointing out Elon's subsidies/relationship to the government is a little different than calling for an 'eat the rich' or 'nobody should be a billionaire' sort of approach.

You're pointing out communistic tendencies in a narrower framework than what is actually descriptive of the phenomena.

Groups with different values will find an "elite" to "takedown" for one reason or another.

I'm not sure that every instance of groups going after 'elites' can be assumed to be communist.

Would you conaider the national socialist movement to be communist?

You talking about Nazis?

Yes

Yeah those guys are definitely commies.

Marx never wrote about such things, though he was privately degenerate.

The purported aims of cultural marxism are to soften the public up so that they will except real marxism at some point down the line.

Thanks. I was hoping to find some data I could point to. It sounds like there are other authors aside from marx who have covered it extensively.

If I bring them up in a debate they can be dismissed as straw man arguments. If I found an actual quote from Marx it would be a game over, but these topics are never that easy šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Family destruction was included in the first draft of the Communist Manifesto, Engels took it out.

Marx isn’t required for cultural Marxism. Look at Horkheimer & Adorno.

Cultural demoralization wouldn’t be called cultural demoralization, it would be called something positive. See In the First Circle by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn for the effects of numerous ā€œpositivesā€.

One aspect of ā€œintentionally spreading mass confusionā€ was assuming that all that didn’t agree with Communism were under the fog of ā€œfalse consciousnessā€. That and the Soviet Union not allowing publication of maps of the country.

Thanks I will take a look at those authors you mentioned.

I'd like to be able to confirm that first part you mentioned regarding Engel's with data. Do you know where I might be able to confirm that?

I'm working on bringing a leftist friend over the void at the moment.

He cares about deeply family values (because he's sane), but was trained in college (of course) to bash capitalism.

I think I read it Thomas Sowell.

IIRC, the idea was to remove children from their parents and have the state indoctrinate them.

For your friend, check out issue 1 of Hammer of Freedom at arkhaven.com.

Been a while since I’ve read but I think the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital cite capitalism as the downfall of all the above.

Thanks. Both books I didn't plan to read, but if I want to understand the arguments I gotta trudge through the shit šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

You know one book I read is called "Why Marx was Right". It was kind of a summary of all of his ideas and their arguments for Marxism. I don't think Marx saw a difference between true capitalism and crony capitalism. It highlighted for me the difference between the two. Crony capitalism, to me, is only a few degrees off from Marxist thought. True capitalism, where the free markets are allowed to work ,without interference of the state, is the best economic system IMO.

I reached the same conclusion. I may check that out.

For some reason I feel compelled to really understand the issue from every angle. Exhausting sometimes, but it's been rewarding so far.
