You have influence where you have rapport with others. Anyone who just shows up pretending to have rapport where they don’t will come across annoying and it will be a turn off to many people. This is the reality any “influencer” is going to face on #nostr. Nobody knows you, and most people won’t care until they do. So, put in the work and let others see who you are, and get to know them. Build rapport. Build a reputation. It’s your true private key.

Well said .
It’s a little bit like when a new coworker starts at a job. If they come in being overly familiar/friendly with their coworkers, or pretending to know everything, then of course they’re going to annoy some people. They could be the most amazing person, but they came on too strong and turned you off. Taking time to get to know people and prove yourself is reality in any new setting.
💯
This is astute and correct. It's why any sales education/training will teach you that first, you build rapport.

The Nostr community values identity, because on Nostr your reputation is your identity. Keep building.
Damn just @ me next time
I DM people "how's your trade going?" to build rapport.
