What does Nostr have to do with it? To post links to archive.org or share torrents, Nostr wasnāt needed before ā and it still isnāt needed now.
The work of Archive.org isnāt Nostrās achievement. All Nostr can do right now is flood a couple hundred relays with spam.
Data wise it aint on nostr and thats a fair point.
Iām not even sure this data should be here. Nostr is a primitive protocol made for social projects and all those interaction things ā why do we even need media here? So that 245 out of 250 relays crash right away?

The media isnt held on a nostr relay its just linked in the note.

Donāt even try. You people on Nostr keep posting photos to that HTTP trash heap nostr.build ā a single DNS issue there and you lose all your media. To make it look a bit less pathetic, slapped Blossom on the side... Did it help? Letās see. Again nostr.build, again DNS. No, it didnāt solve the problem at all.
But hey, at least now you can post links to archive.org and count that as Nostrās achievement ā even though itās way easier for me to just go to Archive itself and find those films there. Unlike Nostr, its search actually works.
The point is that Nostr has nothing to do with media ā it solves nothing and helps in no way in that area. For Nostr, media simply doesnāt exist; and for media, Nostr doesnāt exist either. In fact, Nostr is downright bad for media ā itās easy to come up with a protocol that would do a much better job.

I donāt think so. Most people are so dumb to even realise they are being limited in any kind of way. Most people donāt even give it importance as long as their acquaintances are on the platform.

I think people donāt mind cuz limitations promote creativity. Like the haiku form.
Also, the understanding that if millions or billions of people are uploading long things, then there needs to be more data centers which cause pollution and use electricity.
also, people go to instagram to browse and discover. If people start posting long things, then you canāt browse or discover as much.
Instagram isn't going anywhere too soon, as long as there's no good alternative, especially for businesses. I talked about this earlier here, there's no Nostr client yet with that optimized polish that works for client relationship as Instagram does (natural after so many years and money spent in development). I suggest we drop the moralistic attitude and just use and create the superior freedom alternative.

With businesses I also mean your favorite podcasters and artists here on Nostr. They would benefit from a polished client that optimizes the relationship with followers and makes it easy to display their work properly. The only thing we have here is the random shitposting style.

Don't get me wrong , the IG algorithm is an absolute nightmare. It makes people sick and I'd love to leave it instantly. In fact, I only went there a few months ago ... yes, for business. The app works very well overall.
Seems like you feel all comfortable with the current Nostr vibes which is great! Every client can have its own vibe though. Olas was meant to clone IG to some extent, but I don't know about the state of affairs there.
We definitely need more Nostr users and therefore I think a variety of vibes and clients.
another thing that I also consider is that taking responsibility is also making ourselves known little by little and not forcing anyone to use it. since the things that this protocol offers and how its clients work may not seem very attractive to many at the moment, because being cinseros, I do like us but putting together relays, understanding how they work and also putting together your own storage server currently It is very cumbersome if you are not a developer. so for many, these tools are currently not within the reach of someone normal who only wants to surf the Internet.
LoL that requires large amounts of money and a fleet of engineers but I guess dropping the attitude and rolling up the sleeves would work š

Haha, Instagram is way too restrictiveāthree minutes isn't nearly enough to capture my entire sailing trip! Last time I took the 40-foot sailing yacht I bought from https://www.yachttrading.com/yachts/40-foot-sailing-yacht-for-sale/ out for a spin, the footage of dolphins and the boat alone took up two whole minutes š. When I uploaded the full version, my friends said it felt like a documentary.

if you are worried about that, perhaps it would be advisable to tell users who want to upload heavy content that they better set up their own servers and relays to prevent that content from being related to relays where publications are shorter.
do you think we will soon see indies upload their games here? because since one can even build their own storage servers, and the paid versions that those that also offer their servers even allow compressed files, apart from the fact that the publication format is very moldable for each client, do you think it will happen?
