I think Cashu deserves it's own app. Zeus already maintains two balances and that's pretty confusing!

If the UI was separated in a way that was intuitive and didn't confuse current functionality. Perhaps a seperate app from Zeus for Cashu would be best. One that integrates with your current app but is distinctly seperate.
Ecash is only necessary in the case of custodial wallets, so no.

How would one use it in Zeus, like when, why would it be necessary? Having only tested it a little I have much to learn.

I don't see the point of these tokens.
I'd like to see some mints operated by reputable Bitcoin companies. At least in that custodial relationship there is someone to hold accountable and someone with face to lose if they try to rug--as opposed to faceless individuals who I don't know running mints.
But I don't know that it would be a good idea to ADD ecash to Zeus. Maybe just let others develop separate apps. eNuts is great.

mutiny is probably going to add a fedi layer which is just as ruggable with collaboration
you can onboard every new nostr user and at a threshold offer to open them a fatty channel and keys
zaps become private and honestly nostr is for fun, certainly not your full stack or even your real spending

What's cashu?
Most people for it seem to just suggest "Yes, do it". Everyone else is either against, or hesitant, and offers constructive feedback as to why - I think that's pretty telling.
Personally would love to see Zeus expand its functionality, but focusing on what has made Zeus, Zeus - Improving the Non-custodial Lightning Experience.
I assume this is harder... but could it be done as a plugin? An optional extension? I would certainly consider using it. But adding it as an optional plugin would be my prefernce. I assume this would mean building a plugin interface and possiblt SDK. But then that would open the door to things like a Liquid plugin, or Boltz, and so on...
Ecash is fine. But I preferred it to be in your own Wallet.
Zeus your specialty should still be self-custody, pro-privacy and security. Ecash being dependent on a federation to mint it and all the other things it implies is different from the model you guys run.
For those Cashu cases there are Enuts and other Wallets that are in their experimentation phase.
In the future they will be much more stable and used. Maybe then you can think about implementing an ecash wallet with all that it implies.
