what can I grow in 10a this late in the year? we don't get frosts so I'm always confused by the instructions about when to plant.

Right now would be a good time to get peppers in the ground if you want a warm season crop. For cool season crops lettuce, carrots, and beets would do really well. Especially as temps begin to get lower.

thanks for the info. I might have to give lettuce a shot again.

If you do. We carry Buttercrunch Butterhead lettuce. It’s a crisp, sweet variety and it’s quite heat resistant!

I was also looking at the Snowball Turnips. any tips for growing those?

Those did pretty well on their own for us. But we did find that pill bugs and ants liked to hang around the base of them. You can place used coffee grounds around the base of them to deter them due to the caffeine content of the grounds.

You can grow short season crops just about any time of year - Lettuce, radishes, etc. even carrots would do great this time of year.

Also many southern gardeners take advantage of cooler winter temps to grow crops that are considered warm season crops else where- crops that would struggle with extreme high temps and/or drought during summer. I know many southern farms plan tomatoes, peppers and squash out now and plan to harvest late spring before things heat up too much. Then they shut down for June-Aug.

how interesting! I didn't know I could still do tomatoes right now. I'll have to give that a try.

taro is obsessed with salsa right now. tomatoes, onions, cilantro, a bit of salt and lemon. he signs for "dip" even when he's eating not-paired-with-salsa foods like, strawberries 😆

Depends where you live. It’s a big round planet
