How do you stay on top of DMs/emails/messages and communication in general?
Discussion
I've always been struggling and multiple accounts/emails/etc doesn't make it easier...
I don't. I gave up on most of them. It gets too overwhelming. I respond to what I can, when I can.
You need to hire a social media manager with the nostr fund 😉
I’m betting on Profile lists to start helping with this: note1dhwzf2n2scjgtq5htxml79g9vpah922y6gcsjsl0xe4u7vy8cpeq63uyra
They enable a kind of programmed discrimination I’ve never really seen the opportunity for.
That and “payed” dm’s for users new to you (and thus not categorized).
Gigi LLM could be of great help as well → I’d pay 😉
Trim down friendships and ignore people 😂
By acting weird to scare statist off!!
I used to be at inbox zero all the time by staying on top of unsubscribes, filtering, auto-categorizing.
Then I tried not caring and letting the inbox fill up.
I was surprised to learn that nothing really changed. I just spend far less time on it.
Basically come in once or twice a week, glance without clicking unless something looks “important”. Leave.
My inbox is full now and I don’t care!
I guess you could say it’s a form of low time / low care preference.
That's the neat part, I don't
Mark all as read

I don't 😂

😂
GTD. Do everything that can be done in 2 minutes directly. Everything else goes into my to-do list and is assigned a priority and context.
Batching. There tends to be less communication and less noise if I answer once per week.
I use Facile Things for GTD
I don’t.
(Sorry everyone)
"mark as read" button 🤷♂️
By not dming anybody lol
Ctrl-A……..delete.
Kill it at once.
Bought a Nokia, can receive calls.
It's easy, I don't. 😅
That’s the neat part. I don’t.
But more seriously this is literally the hardest part of my business and is one of the things that contributes to me getting burned out sometimes, since as a small business owner I can never be fully “off” for a while. Comms from all directions all the time.
I have an operations manager that handles some of my email, so it gets filtered before it gets to me except for my direct email address. That’s the only thing that makes it even somewhat workable.
This is me, thinking about all the emails I'd have to answer to hire an operational manager for myself.

What about an AI dedicated to yourself, living only on your devices, getting to know you and your habits?! Performs all the boring, procrastinational tasks for you. This is me, thinking about all the setup tasks for personal AI.
My life hack is that my operations manager is my husband. I run the front end of the business, and he runs the back end. Prior to him joining I was running the whole thing which eventually became untenable.
But yeah I have been looking at hiring an equity analyst and an assistant, and the thought of dealing with the email and administrative burden of finding them keeps making me delay it (even though the whole fucking point is that they are there to save time).
An operations manager is key. What I’ve found myself though is that everyone wants access to, as you say, “the front end”. And that is the one asset, the individual, who isn’t scalable. Does help when you have a subscription platform though.
I attempted years ago to institutional my advisor business and have others be on the front line directly interacting with clients and all those demanding access to the key knowledge worker. Just wasn’t able to get there in the end. Everyone just wanted my time.
The only solution is to price your time accordingly. I wish that I had done so much earlier. Spent too many years trying to be everywhere for everyone and it caused ripples and problems all over. #liveandlearn.
more of a wife hack than a life hack....
ok ...
I'll see myself out.
I tried to do the same, and it worked quite well in the beginning, but then I got my operations manager pregnant and unfortunately the baby isn't old enough yet to reply to emails.
Deal with them as they come in asap.
😅
I don’t. Just trying to filter out as what I find important.
Poorly.
Less input
The only way is to accept that you can't keep up.
Anything that's not email I consider ephemeral and only gets processed on a best-effort basis. For email I'm an Inbox Zero maximalist. Other than that: GTD
Don’t feel obligated if you haven’t promised anything, i.e., don’t feel obligated solely because the sender might feel a certain way if you don’t respond. That’s his cross to bear, not yours.
The best way is to do something that raises the social cost of being affiliated with you, have you tried invading Poland?
🤣
I hate having notifications so I always read things immediately
