It's about damn time I start checking out Nostr and see how much I can migrate from the bird app.
How's everyone's experience on Nostr so far? Any tips and tricks for a Nostr n00b?

Fix your zaps btcpay.sethforprivacy.com returns HTTP 400 error (that's what phoenix is telling me when trying to zap you)
Ah, thanks, issue with LN node connection!
Should be fixed now, mind trying again?
I’m enjoying it, although I don’t use it as much or as in-depth as I could.
welcome Seth 🫂
Glad to be hear 🤝
How are you finding it overall? Favorite client(s) so far?
Also thanks for the issue/PR around PayJoin for Envoy, sparked some good conversations and excited to get it added!
I use Damus. snort.social to link to things outside of nostr clients. Photos with nostrimg
great to hear about the pr. Gotta find time to respond to the excellent feedback. very exciting
Nice to have u onboard. Hope maxis won't annoy u too much 😂
Nah, been around way too long and dealt with too much for that 😅

Great to see the privacy nyms streaming in. 🙌
Use a few paid relays. Then filter your global feed to only use the paid relays. This will mitigate spam in the global feed.
Any relays you recommend?
Will probably explore making my relay paid for similar reasons shortly.
+1 wouldn't mind looking into that myself after i sort out lighning integration with my btcpay server.
I seem to be seeing quite a bit of spam
My current pair of nostr.wine relays works fine but what do I k ow
- eden.nostr.land
- xmr.usenostr.org
- nostr.milou.lol
Although Milou seems to be down this morning so not sure what’s up with that one.
I’m gonna be looking into finding a few more paid relays this week
So far, Nostr feels mostly like a shoutbox (remember these, on the forums back in the day?). Little informative posts; mostly celebration and self-afffirmation how great Nostr is.
The signal is still on Twitter, for now..
I think what nostr struggles with is discovery...who to follow, what are people talking about, who is related, etc.
Not sure. You can import your Twitter follows very conveniently with https://snort.social/new/import
I just think the *the same people* post more quality stuff on Twitter than on Nostr right now. Nostr talk is currently to 90% about .. Nostr (Zaps, clients etc. etc.)
Maybe it's because there is a wider audience and thus more eyes on Twitter, so ppl naturally communicate a bit more "serious" while here it's still a bit like a sand box...
--------------
With time it'll come, I'm not too concerned. The growth is astonishing, and what the implementations have achieved in such as short time is brilliant (native payments, spam prevention relays w/o moderation etc)
Yet at the moment, when I want real info / discuss things seriously, Twitter is still the place.
Welcome 🫂 try the zap feature and check out a few paid relays to increase your robustness and support the network, for example relay.exchange
Get a couple of P2W (pay-to-write) relays. Use a VPN / TOR. Don't look at unfiltered free global feed.
Welcome Seth!
hi seth. glad to see you join here. hope more frequently post here.

Gday Seth!
Morning ☕
How have you been finding Nostr so far? Any client or relay recommendations?
iris.to, amethyst, nostgram, snort.social are all good in their own ways for android
relay.exchange is a good place to look through paid relays
Gm +1
Yo Seth. Good to see you here 🤙🏻
Welcome Seth! For Android I really like Amethyst and Iris. Nostrgram is pretty good too, for a Instragram type layout.
Iris and Nostrgram are available as both web-browser things and apps. If you use the web browser, I recommend either alby or nos2x . I use nos2x (nos2x is a browser extension that holds your keys and lets you authorize a website to use it instead of copy-pasting every time) which works with Kiwi (a non-evil chromium browser so takes chrome extensions)
Yeah, if you use a web browser, use an extension. Thats really my only advice.
...and nsec is the secret one!
It's getting better a fast.
Cool, welcome 🤙
