I’d be happy to contribute to and use my public platform to bring attention to legal defense funds for people who build open source privacy tools, or for legal attempts to push back on unconstitutional government financial surveillance.

I just need to know that they are credible from people I trust.

nostr:npub10pensatlcfwktnvjjw2dtem38n6rvw8g6fv73h84cuacxn4c28eqyfn34f has a great reputation, in this regard.

100% pass through, no fees for admin.

I won an auction for nostr:npub1qex7yjtuucs6ac49kjujdgytrjsphn5a4pdscu2w3qlprym4zsxqfz82qk's baklava a couple years back, the proceeds of which went to nostr:npub1cjw49ftnxene9wdxujz3tp7zspp0kf862cjud4nm3j2usag6eg2smwj2rh's legal defense.

I'd zap that shit

Why don’t you start suing?

Because legal stuff is not my area of expertise. I’d happily fund those for whom it is.

I focus on economic analysis, monetary education, and funding bitcoin scaling and privacy solutions.

Expand? Are you implying it’s a futile attempt from her?

You are correct. I am very doubtful that attempts to restore personal freedoms via a captured and entirely corrupt legal system will produce meaningful results.

What such efforts might do however, is provide people with a false sense that they (or, even better, other people) are “doing something about it” when in fact it is just more of the same bullshit.

Furthermore, I think that Lyn’s approach will not only be non-productive, but worse, it risks being counter-productive by lending legitimacy to an illegitimate process and system and distracting from the true changes that need to occur quickly.

I have no idea if Lyn has children or not, but if she doesn’t, that probably will do more for the planet and humanity than any of the efforts she describes above.

The entire system must go and the only non violent way I see to achieve this is via mass refusal to participate in it any longer.

Of course others are allowed to offer up their ideas as well. I will continue to live mine though, and practice what I preach, unlike the parents who say they will die for their kids and then do nothing but surf Facebook and post edgy memes about the sorry state of the world.

Has the battle over encrypted communication not been worthwhile? How does that differ?

nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a i want to ask you about ' #privatemoney', that being "private-citizen money" as opposed to privacy-respecting money: i thought that private money is not legal tender (officially settles-debts and pays taxes) so how can it be illegal to transmit?

Reference:

We need more people like you. They’re coming for all of us so it’s not pure altruism…

The tornado cash thing was an attack on bitcoin and we failed to respond properly. Law enforcement rug pulled us on their precise guidelines which state self custody does not constitute transmission of funds.

This is the way Lyn! 🫡

Thanks for being such a dependable mentor on matters of money and Bitcoin.

Yes please.. we need public people like you to push against these lasts governments and public agencies surveillance.

When comes the "Then they fight you" phase, we need to fight in order to see the..

"Then you win"

And I will donate to those legal defenses.

Based.

It's great. If you all support it together, it will be a huge force.

Niiiiiiice 👍🏾

We've just launched nostr:npub1rmhkv82w0khu0uv4egegkrtkjnlggdhrns0qxdhcp0r7wplhfkts94ya4n this week. 501(c)(3) approved public charity dedicated to supporting and defending FOSS devs developing alternative systems (legal, financial, etc).

We're exploring starting a legal defense fund to counteract the chilling effects of these absurd prosecutions.

We'd welcome your support and advice. Happy to answer any questions and provide references. (aaron@opensourcejustice.org)

Well done! 💜🫂🍀

@odell can opensats support this after being vetted ?

👀👏

Heck yeah Lyn.

I'm getting tired of seeing Bitcoin companies tuck tail and run offshore of the US. Bitcoiners inside the US are charged with defending the network from the largest attacker of Bitcoin on planet earth.

Liberty, freedom and property rights are core to the culture of the US.

I’m a litigator that would happily contribute time and effort to a litigation firm that takes such a case on a pro bono basis.

Aplausos 👏

Thank you, Lyn.

Look for signs of Rust and Transgenderism. Then you know it's real

It would be great if someone smart lines up a roadmap for what specific legal steps are needed to push back on the surveillance. Do we know what specific things would need to happen? Is there a list?

#MeToo

That hashtag has too much baggage bro 😂

I don't want to hurt anyone, but probably the smarter in this whole community.

We love lyn

Credible open source funds .. OpenSats is such a fund (https://opensats.org/about). I believe at least several of the Board members are probably known to you.

Two others are:

- Human Rights Foundation (HRF) and

- Brink

Each has a slightly different focus and all 3 are supporting open source and privacy and developers.

Specifically for legal defense, COPA is probably the main player, and also well supported in the US, BUT also has significant corporate/regulated sponsors so may be less likely to support such a direct challenge.

Code is speech. Bitcoin is code. Bitcoin is speech. Is bitcoin money? If yes, then money is speech. Always has been. Bank secrecy act and its derivatives violate human freedom.
