I'm sorry to brag, but I've been trying to sell something for $200 on eBay for 6 months. It finally sold! Fingers crossed it's not a scammer and that I can actually buy more bitcoin with these funds.
Wen Nostr Marketplace? 😭

Wen Nostr Marketplace? 😭
Yes WEN 👀
https://nostr.bitejo.com Saw this around here, no idea if it’s actually any good
What you looking to sell? I’ve seen some posts on #marketplace thread🧵
uhm. what else do i have... i have all of my baseball cards from the 80's and early 90's.
I think we don’t need a marketplace as much as an escrow service. Could be an interesting use case for fedimints.
Been heavy on the #marketplace and #nostrplace
I’d much rather sell something and get paid in bitcoin. Even for a discount.
Still using PPT but I’m sure something will emerge to help increase the trust!
There already is one but of course I can’t remember what it’s called 🫠
Nostr marketplace sounds like a good thing
How would you establish trust between participants in a Nostr Market place ?
there's no easy solution there besides building a Web-of-Trust together. we can do it.
WoT and Reputation Analysis
WoT I honestly believe is a very simple quantitive solution
Reputation Analysis though involves context, quality, performance and feedback
To solve both of these in a distributed manner is a massive challenge and we’re going to be working on both and contributing it to the community
I really miss silkroad 🥲😞😅
All marketeers have really good reviews
We need a reputation layer built on nostr. Maybe badges can work for this. "Five star reviews" from happy customers can go a long way in building the web of trust.
I never bought anything on silk road, but from what I've read, it seemed like a much safer way to buy drugs online.
Nowadays, I hear kids buy fentanyl laced coke on SnapChat.
I don't use illegal drugs, but there must be a better way.
The thing with eBay…the fees are so high, and now if you sell something valued over $600, or multiple things totaling over $600 (with fees and shipping accumulating to that total) they will 1099 you as of this year. It makes it such a freaking hassle.
(US perspective)
But, still the best place to get a worldwide market…for now…
Its pretty much here baby
See plebeian.market and our good buddy #[2]
plebian market is great in concept, but barely anyone uses it.
Might have been bc there's a prerequisite that you had to have an x amount of followers on Twitter to get on it..
Hey Derek… Couple reasons… because it’s essentially an MVP we’ve only been pushing it softly… no heavy promotion till we’re 100% onto nostr
We are literally mid-pivot from twitter triggered to nostr based
Secondly I believe people generally want to hodl right now unless it’s low cost or highly collectible bitcoin artefact
I think after the next big bull run cycle there will be another generation of people living the bitcoin standard and more comfortable spending
I’m happy to have a chat anytime ser and give you an early insight into just what we’ve got in the making and the bigger vision
I think we’re still very early
not actually decentralized or censorship resistant in any way tho
It’s FOSS… the first version would have had an api that talked to all the other instances but after nearly a year of coding we ditched it to pivot to nostr
Painful… but the right thing to do
It will be installable on any website, node, or run as a mobile app
Just give us a little more time👌
Check out satscrap.com - just sold something on there. Easy peasy.
I would love to sell my Race and performance transmissions for bitcoin. Hate selling anything on ebay because of the high fees. We do need a nostr based market place.
already being done, looks amazing and simple... just like nostr: https://github.com/lnbits/nostrmarket
…. nost.store anyone?

nost.store anyone?

Nostr Bazaar
Soon!
Your post is getting a lot of traction.
Added to the https://member.cash/hot feed
There is still no good way of searching nostr, at least in damus. So #marketplace is of quite limited use. But once you could set up multiple feeds with different filters/algos, #marketplace would be all you need to mark the notes that fall in the "classifieds" feed. Seach would do the rest.
Ebay's gettin 13% of that action
Hows this?
