Discussion

1) friendship

2) easier ways to find new friends

3) more friends

Aaaaw.💐

GOSH DARN IT I LOVE ME SOME NORM AND HE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

Norm is the greatest

🫂

(1) the tone of the conversations, (2) the interaction with other apps (iMessages, Signal, etc.), and (3) thoughtful content … content here is raw and could be more engaging intellectually

1- the people

2- privacy

3- market stuff, nostr bnb, uberst

1) The people, and mission of collaboration and open source

2) Adoption

3) Education/resources for non-devs

1 - the feeling that everyone is doing their thing and nobody can stop them

2 - DMs but not sure if this is a nostr or a client improvement

3 - even more great people 💜

1. No manipulating algo

2. Signal & Telegram replacement features

3. More diverse content

(1) decentral, just a potocol

(2) privacy (tor nodes, onion adress)

(3) full privacy messages (no phone number, tor, just an id). Topics with subtopics like discord or telegram

1. no ads, no algos, no overlords

2. idk but it should be a constant wip, maybe truly private dm’s

3. more open minds, less sheeple

1) open standard leads any motivated person to build 🔥🔥

2) key management (hardware wallet and delegation a must)

3) uncensorable file sharing

1) permisionlessness

2) app flakeyness

3) moar ppl

1. Better incentives

2. Better standards to show content across clients

3. More peopled

What do you mean by (1) exactly, or what kind of incentives you'd like to see?

1. it brings joy

2. scalability

3. humans and machines working together

#nostr

1) What I like the most is value per minute.

Partly a result of the users, but I can always choose who to follow.

Partly a result of no algos. I see what I want not what's most likely to keep me engaged. On other social medias, giving me less value keeps me on there longer, searching for what I want. So now I get more value in less time.

Awesome!

2/3) I'd like to see more "other stuff" on here. Would love to have a UFC and motorsports community for example. Surely some bitcoiners like Suga Sean no?

nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc

nostr:nevent1qqsyxxj5p9rr3fqqm6tdjfjnfvjqaw0htq3swyxdp5mjyff9ncm5uqgpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsygrwg6zz9hahfftnsup23q3mnv5pdz46hpj4l2ktdpfu6rhpthhwjvpsgqqqqqqsa95rsp

1- The freedom.

2- More ways to curate your feed and UX

3- Muting specific hashtags should be standard on all clients

1) that it managed to spark my interest again in 'social media' after 3 years not using any

2) My understanding of (form and content, to be honest) and skills using it

3) Time and 'meat pieces' to do so...

probably none of these is what you meant, tho...

You finally have a lightning address! ⚡🫂

Explain "meat pieces"?

Aefh, you're very zap-resistant 😅

1. No email/ phone numbers to sign up, no adverts, most seem to be fully aware of nonsense in the mainstream.

2. Have a clearer relay method (make it clear what each relay does) i.e. a way where theres no worry users on different relays dont miss each others notes unless it specifies notes posted on this realy will only be visible to users on this relay for example or notes on this relay will be broadcast to XYZ.

3. A NSEC signer that works with mobile PWAs and native apps on android & iOS (this may exist im just not aware of it)

Re (3) there's nsecbunker and Amber (WIP).

https://nsecbunker.com/

https://github.com/greenart7c3/Amber

Do you need to run a server for nsecbunker?

I've added Amber to Obtainium 🙌 will track progress, sounds promising

1- The freedom to connect w my "tribe" when we'all inevitably have to leave the Bird site

2- Little/no informative content. Mostly a Nostr/Bitcoin circle-jerk

3- People posting real stuff. Maybe bridges into other social networks that to siphon of content (there is that one relay that bridges to mastodon, which is useful)

> Mostly a Nostr/Bitcoin circle-jerk

1. People here are mostly genuine, honest, and conflict-averse

2. Content and user discovery, easier onboarding process

3. More of that “other stuff”

Expand on (3)?

nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev talked about this in a recent podcast. Nostr allows a single login for everything we use that doesn’t require passwords. We used to have Nostrgram, but that seems to have abandoned. It would be great to have a new photo-sharing app built on the protocol and one that integrates with an array of file storage platforms. Data vending machines are a really interesting concept, but they need work on the interfaces and features. Crowdfunding, job searching, and Lightning-enabled gig economy services can all be built here as well. But one thing that will hold back adoption is still key management and the adoption curve of not having a centralized account recovery function. We talk a lot about mass adoption, but it seems most people are not ready for that level of personal data responsibility yet.

What would make it right? Maybe there's further streamlining of nos2x to be done, but it doesn't really solve being able to login on a new device without having your nsec written down somewhere. There are custodial solutions, which have all their associated issues. A hardware device that stores keys could be used, maybe you could allow apps to save your key so you don't need to carry it around. I think I like the idea of integrating nos2x/alby functionality into self hosted password vaults, there are just a lot of issues with who wants to actually go through all of that; I think most people just want a service they can trust, unfortunately. Eh, pursue all the solutions for now and try to give people the best range of options we can; packaging packaging packaging, we need a <$100 device you can set up in 2 minutes with a QR code on your phone that has an app for your PC, caches new accounts and syncs them over WiFi when you get home, and lets you plug and play a flash drive for physical keys/backups.

(3) data vending machine

I like that when you you make a typo it’s there forever

I think native payments work so well, that they dont even get mentioned

Good point, zaps are so normal by now they are not even worth mentioning 😂🤣

1) frens

2) interoperability

3) customizable algos (baked into clients not protocol)

1) no adds abd algos

2) that Apple puts back zapps as it was so i can use Damus as it was, because still best app for noster, until proved otherwise.

3) other (more) people than bitcoiner, sovereign individuals and similar people, e.g. artist, philosopher, literatur-enthusiast etc.

There is a solution to (2) that some Damus user will hopefully share here. You click a link and zaps are activated again afaik.

Thanks

nostr:note1gjd2str0tfqvrcwdttskxkd52vmsagc477gsr858k0ug86nuj60qzn6uas

I klicked on the link, then on „on“. Then reopened damus . Nothing changed. No ⚡️under the posts

1️⃣ the fact that no one can ban or remove me.

2️⃣ more plebs and devs from my country.

3️⃣ NostrCollege : an online learning platform like Duolingo-meets-Coursera with Zap and Satoshi rewards and Sat insentive.

Everything will come in time,

lending/borrowing platform

Ride hailing apps

Car/residency rental app

Just wait and see

1. Freedom 2. More people talking about non tech topics 3. Decentralized photo/video storage

You can fix (2) by talking about topics that interest you and creating or participating in communities around them 💜🫂

https://satellite.earth/

- Community of people and the simplicity of the protocol.

- Progress towards the Gossip relay model, self-hosted and paid relays. It does appear that relays are dropping older messages. Also a fix for the issues with direct messages.

- A way to revoke keys, and to suggest migration to a new one that can use follows (and out-of-band verification) to confirm the new key. Multisignature and root keys I think would also be useful. Furthermore, better methods using Lightning payments to prevent spam.

1) opportunity

2) clients’ stability and performance

2) use cases

What clients are you using and when are they crashing?

Nostr crashes a lot for me, might be the size of my follow list.

Damus (TestFlight) crashes all the time with custom reaction emojis.

*Nostur

Right, I use only Testflight releases. 😅

All of them 🙄 …but, mostly Damus and Primal. Not sure, they slow down, freeze, crash for “no reason” Primal is a bit better I’d say.

The instability of the clients is a bit weird seems unusually high especially if you miss an update.

(1) Zaps

(2) Receiving zaps to bolt12 offers rather than custodial ln addresses but that's up to LN implementation teams

(3) People

Not that patient about (2)

Willing to be patient for (3), even if it takes years. People will mostly come for zaps I feel like.

Market 👀

*Black market lol

Even better 👀👀👀

1) no algorithmic manipulation of feed/conversations/information

2) more sophisticated zap settings on notes and profiles, consistently available across clients, such as splits, recurring/scheduled zaps, zap comments/DMs, etc.

3) ability to migrate existing identity and content to a new key pair

1)no algo content incentivising kindness over anger

2) id like to see visiting profiles be improved

3) playing videos in app and clients with a build in starter guide

1) I actually laugh on social media

2) Messaging/notifications is ropey. Seriously couldn't make heads nor tails of the actual amount of likes, followers etc... always changing. Continually drops all relays

3)Figjam- collaborative workspace/design type thing might fit nicely

Ooh, that would be a nice "other stuff"

Can you see it? 😉

1) This is social media with all its positive effects minus all the filthy manipulation that gets injected otherwise.

2) Universal understanding of why nostr is important (Just a small challenge, right?) 🤪

3) (Amethyst) When replying, keep the post visible to which one is replying.

1) it’s working… it’s growing… it’s interoperability - I don’t think we’ve even begun to scratch the surface regarding this point

2) anti-spam - maybe something like akismet or community driven solutions or maybe paid solutions bundled into relays

4) a GitHub alternative… a mobile Telegram alternative for groups, Bridges to Keet, Matrix and SimpleX for p2p video and audio chat… the creation of scientific communities and farming communities… greater adoption for open data sharing amongst different scientific groups from medical to geological

That’s enough for now I think 👍

Inflation… printing my own numbers

1 the simplicity and freedom

2 relay interfaces

3 people

1. no bans, say whatever you want, lots of clients

2. less data hungry on mobile devices when not on wifi (should be priority fix)

3. regular people, content

I'm a little bit overwhelmed to be honest. There's so much new stuff in Bitcoin lately that I need some time to try it all. I've really enjoyed the using a browser extension to try a bunch of nostr web clients. Everytime I come back and check on a client It has been updated and improved.

Search is still difficult, even large caching like primal. sometimes still need to go to nostr.band.

Would be great to have a bookmark section (is there a client that does it?) and also to be able to download bookmarks for reference.

Some truly amazing conversations and content generated here, Nostr has truly been liberating!

(1) : zaps are truly amazing

(2) : the registration process is too complex for average people. Also fixing the bugs, I am using iris right now, and had several bugs, like posts that seems to not be displayed in "real time".

(3) : Wider adoption (other people unrelated to the bitcoin sphere).

1) the appearance of decentralization (I didnt try to verify it)

2) Ux mostly (lots of time on Damus I can’t see the comment on OP)

3) a user friendly search feature or some link to already connected people.

1. zaps

2. content discovery

3. polls suck

1) The Bitcoin Maxi flavor

2) Search!

3) Users

1) positive attitude of nostriches

2) feed filtering visualisation

3) delayed boost

What do you mean by (3) delayed boost?

Imagine holding or double tap on 🔃 button, and you can set when yo boost that note in the future, so like postponed renote. This because usually when a note is relevant gets boosted and renoted by many people at same time, and maybe not seen at all by other users in a different world time-zone. Maybe that could help so the same notes has more visibility for longer time.

1. People on Nostr

2. on-boring process. Less technical people find it hard to grasp

3. Tag cloud to get a better understanding of what is what

1) insight into development process and thinking behind I, watching it evolve

2) some sort of lite mode for off-wifi

3) zapless polls, non-bitcoiners, pawgs

Switched to primal recently (sorry snort) :)

2) i find it hard to find new content. It seems to be just bitcoiner stuff :D

1: Fuck the ECB, let's stick a fucking vacuum cleaner to Kiki Ratarde's pussy and keep on going until EUR's done (a sudden outburst of freedom of speech)

2. I'm a fucking noob. I barely understand two clients, I say improve all you can, just make sure it doesn't get worse.

3. People, but them EUSSR #NOSTR #marketing team motherfuckers are working real fucking hard in order to improve that

Conclusion:

I fucking LOVE #NOSTR, I hope all privacy invaders die a horrible death and I approve #NOSTR 1234% !!!

P.S.: In the light of the EUSSR fucking censorship law, I'm getting all too excited when it comes to still have a place on the internet to be able to spit out whatever the fuck that is that I like, especially anti-establishment, with zero chance of it being censored. I can't help it. Sorry, haha...
