Depends on what you like. I personally really like my Weber charcoal grill.
I've been debating giving a propane grill. But i like the versatility of my Weber.
Getting*
The propane is definitely easier / quicker and what I’m use to.
Yeah, definitely has its advantages over charcoal.
Honestly I may need to get a cheap Webber charcoal grill and a propane for when I’m feeling lazy. I’m having choice paralysis
I think each style of grill kind of serves a different purpose. I prefer cooking on charcoal, but the main reason I want to get a propane is for specifically when I don't feel like fucking with charcoal.
What do you think about the green egg. nostr:npub1pwqhjd7f6r40kvy4u6c9edppra6km5s08vulrdcctd0704xe0huqn4epsw and nostr:npub1sq44jr6wd57qx2dxcjaw7zct4cenq8eg08smxyg53rzu3fynd9lqpn6lz9 got be considering the egg
I've seen them and but I haven't used one. They seem pretty cool and if I didn't already have a Weber I probably would look into getting one of those.
What’s the best meats to cook on charcoal
A chimney starts coal in no time. I’ve been using a Weber for over 30 years. My dad gave me a big propane grill once when he moved, I septically took it and it caught on fire between the tank and the burner the first time I used it. I went straight to the dump and right back to the Weber.
big green egg
These were pretty pricey when I last checked years ago but I’m going to have to revisit. What’s the deal with these eggs anywho?
we do serious grilling in my family & we have been using it for as long as i can remember. it's probably a south african thing, we love to bbq.
the bge is also used as a smoker, for slow cooking & braising. it's very good at keeping heat and temperature control.
my mom magically makes bread and pizza from that thing so can also bake in it.
What I didn’t know you can make bread and bake in those thangs! Just when I thought I knew what I was going with! 😝 going to look into this some more.
My Weber One Touch Gold has been serving me well for 18 years. Can’t go wrong with the classic.

Webber gang is showing up in numbers! Isn’t the charcoal a pain in the ass tho?
I have a Weber Spirit II gas grill. It works great as long as you keep the crossover tube clean. I have been using it at least weekly for three years with no major issues.
I'm not a super serious barbecuer though. I just burn meat outdoors.
Good to know thanks for sharing!
I really like the BBQs here , they have a great plate for the coals that hold the heat and allows great airflow The grill itself is made with angle iron that allows oil to flow away and is adjustable up and down. Takes a bit of practice but I love um.
Gas, pellet, or charcoal?
Open to all suggestions. What do you use? All the above?
I have a pellet. Set it and forget it. Requires electricity to maintain the temperature, and push pellets in the burn chamber. Smokes great. Takes -~20 minutes to reach steak temperature. I use it at least once, up to 4-5 times per week for mostly beef, sausage, lamb. Family and friends usually enjoy the end result.
Folks who value speed go for nat gas.
Charcoal is great for not needing either a nat gas line in your back yard, or electricity to run a fancier grill.
If you have a local bbq/grill store nearby recommend going in and asking questions. If these guys just do grills usually they are knowledgeable at the various products and options.
Yes I need to find a grill store, no more home depot grills
Weber gas grill. They’re made out of cast iron and have incredibly consistent cooking temperatures across the entire grill.
This seems to be the way!
Just get a Weber 22in charcoal grill.
Get the rotisserie.
Get the gourmet barbecue grate system & accessories.
Webber has been suggested to most thus far. I’m just unsure if I can commit to charcoal. ₿it more work!
kinda peak fiat but the treager .. makes some damn yummy meats.
Man - if you want to experiment with charcoal, I'd go the "Weber go-anywhere". It's portable, compact & cheap.
All you gotta do is light the charcoal 20 mins before you want to grill.
I have a Komado Joe (like a big green egg) but if I'm just doing a few steaks, I'll use the go anywhere.

This will be for my house and don’t plan on taking it anywhere. Does the green egg take longer to get going ? Or is it more of a hassle?
It takes about the same time (maybe an extra 5 mins) to get going but it uses more charcoal.
It's also about 300lbs and is over $1200 (you can sometimes find them second hand though).
The big advantage with the BGE is heat stability from all the ceramic thermal mass. This is awesome for smoking & slow cooking but is of little benefit when grilling steaks.
I love them both but for different reasons.
The advantage of the go anywhere is it's so cheap & portable. If you end up loving cooking with charcoal, you can then splurge on a BGE. If you hate it then you're only down $80.
Funny enough we have a ceramic kiln. This is some good advice!
A charcoal kettle grill is the way to go. Weber makes a good one.
Gas has uneven cooking temperatures and then the burners rot out, the igniter takes a shit, you run out of gas or something else goes wrong.
Pellet grills like traeger don’t get hot enough for steaks like a charcoal grill. They make an “ok” grill and an “ok” smoker, but to do it right you need a grill for grilling and a smoker for smoking.
Get a chimney to light your coal and it’s ready in a few minutes. Take those few minutes to drink a beer or smoke a joint.
I have a Weber kettle and a Weber gas grill. Perfect combo imo
