"no one can ban you from farcaster, but we can ban you from warpcast, which is the only app anyone uses"

"but it's fine, if you have a million of followers you can always create another app -- which requires running a server that syncs the entire farcaster network -- and telling them to install that instead of using ours"

turns out farcaster is exactly like bluesky

Nostr supera de forma y de fondo a Farcastr - Warpcast,

Las Shitcoins no triunfan.

This is exactly the response I was expecting to trigger with that note, haha. Thanks.

This is why I ultimately prefer Nostr.

BUT it is true that that Farcaster's degree of client centralization (Warpcast) does allow it to implement some undeniably compelling features and helps with the cold start problem for community growth.

What features of farcaster do you like?

The frames are spammy, but it is a cool feature to allow interactive mini-apps within the client. I'm not bought into the sufficiently decentralized nonsense, but there is definitely energy in the farcaster space.

Any frames you saw there that captured your imagination?

We made one that was a choose your own adventure sort of thing. Polls are the primary example. I kinda liked the wordle clone in frame as well.

Is a "frame" just the easiest way to make a micro app in the farcarster world? I.e. is it because it's not feasible to make your own client like it is with nostr? Or is there something else about it that makes it cool?

Farcaster is a sewer of shitcoinery.

Yeah, I think making a client is still a huge hurdle in farcaster. Frames are a standard-ish way of adding interactivity to the app that people are using. I've seen that others are picking up the frames spec so it will work outside farcaster, which is pretty interesting.

All this said, nostr is better, but we should pay attention to farcaster. At least in my view.

The interesting thing about frames is the fact that they can be deployed in the social client itself and are completely interactive/functional within posts.

if you consider a world where users run their own personal servers and can serve arbitrary backend apps through clients like this (with native blockchain integration), things start to get very interesting.

The biggest thing is the “it just works” factor. Even the best nostr clients still have pages that just don’t load or are buggy.

I guess that’s the nice thing about having all of the data for the network on one server 😂

Is this the Will To Power showing itself again?
