The general idea is that I can get folks from TikTok onto nostr/cashu in super plain language like “create account with username only” and “deposit with cash app”
And then from there cashu helps me monetize the user experience where I can essentially create scholarships with learning.

That sounds exciting! Can you elaborate on how you would use Cashu to monetize? Users keep their balance in ecash and send you some for providing the service?
Yeah, it was pretty much inspired by the cash taps that Board Walk Cash implemented and zaps on nostr.
Basically you can create cashu tokens based on significant events, like watch time on educational videos or answering questions correctly.
Long term this would all kind of happen in the background so that schools can connect classrooms together. It would require implementing wallets more thoroughly so that folks have better control over payment flows.
Right now what I have is a super naive and pretty constrained prototype of the idea.
I came up with the idea while studying math in school and feeling like an enormous amount of social work was being done in the act of studying math, but there was nothing to represent that besides some obscure transcript. One way to encourage good quality education is just to add more meaningful consequence to the act of learning, but that's only one of many things required to motivate students.
Cashu works great for this because the onboarding experience is basically seamless. Most young Americans are already pretty savvy with Cash App and are eager to see more use cases with Cash App's Bitcoin environment. I was always more or less looking for that one thing that made it easy for folks to essentially embed cash app into app experiences as a result.
Nostr Safebox. Early days, but it works. Key idea is that the ‘wallet’ exists is in the network as a bunch of events. Similar to the idea of a ‘utxo’ which is really just a sum of transaction outputs.
Still very much in development (and will be for a long time before I release anything publicly), but Arx is a Closed Community Network Building tool built on Nostr that integrates everything any community needs, and it does so within a secure framework:
- Forums for large-scale discussions
- Voting and decision-making systems
- Member-to-member payments within the CCN (via Cashu)
- Community pools (multisigs that CCN members can vote to spend from)
- Microblogging (kind 0: similar to current Nostr applications)
- An integrated, community-wide WoT + ELO-based reputation system
- File sharing and synchronization
- Real-time chat (akin to Keychat, Simplex, or Signal)
- Offline and local-first capabilities (allowing you to work offline with automatic synchronization once reconnected to the network)
- and obviously 100% e2e encryption

Corny Chat can render cashu tokens. Users can copy to clipboard to facilitate whatever it is they want to do with the altcoins.
