I'm noticing people are developing AI brain

It's similar to tiktok brain

Where basically you are useless without AI while also being too incompetent to know when AI is giving you bad info

And so you go through life not using your own brain while being overconfident in bad info from an LLM

The amount of trust people have in llms is too damn high!

The problem is that the trust in humans is too high as well. If you don’t verify humans and AI, if you don’t apply critical thinking to humans and AI, then you’re not doing the work. It doesn’t matter if it is AI or human always think for yourself.

P.S. Any argument from authority is no argument at all. Valid logic sets you free.

AI is a dumb assistant that should be used as a launching point for further thought, research, and education.

Beyond that people just shouldn’t be searching for more.

itll be tough for jr devs just learning to copy+paste, not actually debugging, root causing, and learning.

New syndrome just dropped: Dunning-Kruger-By-Proxy

This is true, i feel it sometimes. But damn when it goes it goes. At the very least my coding habits and project structure have improved from reading its outputs.

"here's my sloppy code and attempts with some vague intuition about what i'm trying to do. The code is đź’©. Plz halp"

Turns out, llms can make đź’Ž from đź’© sometimes

I hate it. I’ve been dreading this since they launched ChatGPT. I’ve resisted using it until like a month ago.

Yes, it can make life easier in a lot of ways but at the cost of your brain cells if you get carried away. Yikes.

I have a friend that often responds to my texts with ai answers and claims them as his own

dude. my grandparents said this about TV. they were right. there is a difference between interacting with the world and passively absorbing 'content'.

mentally when we read a book: eyes to language centre to thinking and creation of the book's world/ideas.

it's a steady downhill curve into low IQ non-thinking.

i think it was yeaterday that someone posted that audiobooks are not reading. same thing. (fine, in the car, i get it)

every time i go out and have to interact i have to interact with (sorry not sorry) morons who can not think.

i look for the exceptions and make my friends that way.

engaging with the world and to some extent engaging in real conversation online are both interactive.

i miss my grandparents, and my great aunts and uncles. interacting with them was a joy, a learning experience in both directions, and a gift.

Yea...

Like any tech, it's about how you use it...

Tool or drug?

Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind

The word for this is brainrot.

Pain is the signal that will correct this

Maybe but this is no different than smart phone users typing in whatever their confirmation bias is looking for and using the Google excerpt and reading nothing else. Instead its AI instead of whatever Google wanted.

The point is, I'm repeating myself.

This sounds like a bad recipe. 🤔

ai brain rot is real
