You’re lucky, I’m assuming Japan is pretty self sustainable?

lol no way. they have to import food to feed their people. why do you think they were constantly trying to invade China?

I had no idea šŸ˜‚ I don’t really know anything about the economy of Japan. I buy cars, watches, and fountain pens from Japan, but other than that I have no idea.

According to a quick search Japan is only 38% self sufficient in terms of food.

But locally where i am the bulk of our products are domestic.

Electronics wise there are some good options. Obviously, cars, plenty to choose from.

Japan imports a lot of energy. 2011 caused a lot of nuclear to go offline

I just searched that Japan also imports 90% of its energy needs too. Crazy.

Yeah it’s up there. Not good. Wish we had more safe nuclear options going online. But, I’m sure many people are thinking about these things.

One thing to note, a lot of the new construction comes with solar.

I think 1/3 of all homes are net zero energy. And the goal is for 2/3. It seems to be well on its way there.

That’s impressive.

I should say ā€œnew homesā€. But it’s even a trend with old homes too.

So Japan’s extremely vulnerable then to geopolitics issues/dynamics? As, they import almost all of their energy and food needs.

Yeah. And with climate change it’s even worse because rice yields are lagging. Japan just recently had to open up the national rice reserves due to shortages.

We got seafood going for us, and do ok with poultry and pork. Beef lags but we have the best beef in the world.

And then there’s the demographic issue too.

And they make quality products.

Doesn't hurt they make a lot of quality stuff. Is there anything they do poorly?

How did you end up in Japan? I’ve always thought about moving there but no idea how it is as an expat with no family connections. Have lived a lot of other places though and Japan has always seemed like such an intriguing place to live.

That's dumb. You're usually making corporations richer as most Japanese companies are not even Japanese. They are globalist global companiew.

Buy whatever is cheapest and put the rest into Bitcoin.
