What about cumrocket maxi?
I’m just interested too. 🤔
Lol
Yeah. Coinjoin and Lightning and the fact that WAY more people will take BTC for daily use stuff made me shift away from Monero. I hold some still, but I'm using and learning a lot more with BTC in hot wallets. I also never once converted a non-crypto person to XMR, but plenty are willing to try a Lightning wallet.
You’re not supposed to hold xmr you’re supposed to spend xmr
Agreed, and that's why I'm holding it. I have some very good no-KYC options for BTC. Not so much for XMR.
Atomic swap it back & forth
You can even do it with LN now
Well hell, I'll look at that. Guess I'm spending some XMR.
If you plan it right 95% of the time the fees get paid by the small market price swings.
And there’s plenty of no kyc swaps.
No-KYC, no javascript, privacy-centric, swap aggregator:
Atomic swaps BTC/XMR:

This guy is really awesome - does tutorials on how to run tor nodes and stuff.. he is based.. yet he is still a monero maxi...
He was not exactly a bitcoin maxi, but still it might be interesting for you:
(no need to watch the whole video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G47l75lhCkI
I'm bitcoin maxi. But i auto watch all his videos. Great channel.
#metoo :)
He is great. I think that he is just not informed about LN... That it basically matches all benefits of Monero over Bitcoin on L1 and has none of the drawback of Monero.
Dude...Lightning has many problems of it's own (arguably worse) that Monero does not have.
Relies on large middlemen nodes for succesful routing and cheapest fees,
need capacity to recieve,
can't send modestly large amounts,
both parties must be online to transact,
can be rugged if your node isn't active,
bad receiver privacy and hidden balances can be discovered by a passive adversary,
can be force closed onto the base chain against your will,
ability to grief honest users with zero cost
Those are just a few. Sovereign UX is also terrible which is why over 95% LN users are on WoS.
Always a Bitcoin maxi BUT I dipped my toe into Monero not long ago. Lots of FUD surrounding Monero, esp around mining, decentralization, supply audits, etc.
What ultimately turned me off of it was liquidity. Even DNMs are far more likely to accept Bitcoin than Monero. It’s much easier to pay with Bitcoin or turn Bitcoin into USD. Most of the KYC-free buying of Monero involves buying Bitcoin first.
Also pseudonymous, unconfiscatable, and uncensorable are 99.9% as good as true anonymity.
DNM momentum is going toward Monero.
Yea, Bitcoin has Monero beat when it comes to liquidity, obviously.
But Monero is a far better user experience if you want to actually pay privately and cheaply.
LocalMonero is your friend to directly buy Monero KYC-free

Monero, Zcash, And Tornado cash all became bitcoin replacements for darkweb purchases after the Ross Ulbricht Charlie Shrem era. You can still mine monero on a raspberry pi, No kyc, And buy whatever Illegal substances you want with zero traceability. Bitcoin seems to be used for data ransom from Eastern European mafia types but that sees like a closing window.
XMR is probably the only alt/shitcoin I have some respect for. Feel like it's a net good for being around. It has a niche and fills it well, from my understanding. Wish we could get some more privacy-minded people in Bitcoin
I like Bitcoin and Monero. Not a member of any cult though. They are freedom tools. Maxis on both sides spread FUD about the other. In the long run I think/hope Bitcoin will get strong privacy features and XMR will go to zero, but for now it is useful.
Monero will never go to zero(why are you measuring in dollars?) because if you believe it has a utility value for privacy, there will always be a price above zero.
Until Bitcoin/LN/other layer can provide the level of easy privacy that monero does, it'll have a market value. Bitcoin will always have a massive (and growing) liquidity advantage over XMR tho, as they're competing for different markets
L2 privacy can never be a full replacement for L1 privacy.
L2 sacrifices major aspects of onchain like self-custody, permissionlessness, p2p, final settlement, etc
Monero is already king of privacy coins too. Network effect has too much momentum. You'll have to get users and markets to switch over. Look at Lightning and Liquid. Been around for years already but only a tiny fraction of those businesses and users that accept onchain Bitcoin accept them.
Monero is amazingly simple to use. Fees are supper low. No gas or fee bullshit to juggle, its all known ahead when the transaction is constructed. It's hard to zero out several wallets in botcoin. You have to worry a low feel will never get pushed. With XMR that goes away.
The feeling you get from Default privacy is almost inexplicable. Sovereingty. No need to worry about if this or that purchase will one day show up to haunt you. No need to juggle several wallets. we are steeped in invasive relationships, this one private mechanism is such a relief. I don't even buy anything illegal with it, but the feeling is there.
Bitcoin feels clumsy, compared to Monero. Hard to explain. Monero beats lightning. But lightning support for microtransactions is better. Bitcoin always has this feeling of impending doom, did i enter the right address, ? or is it the wrong kind of btc address ? Did i set the right fee ? Should i coin join ?
