What does everyone do moving BTC to Lightning? Is there a wallet that accepts BTC and then can send out Lightning? Or a way to send BTC directly to a node? #asknostr

I know Coinbase can accept BTC and send Lightning but I’d prefer a different solution.

Boltz.exchange can swap it for you

You need to open a channel if you’re not running your own node. Try nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5

This is a good path

Been using ZeusPay for almost a year now and I’m very happy with their service. Can send and receive Bitcoin via Lightning on my phone. Great product.

It’s crazy how a wallet can be so versatile like Zeus

Madmen (and women?) behind the curtain have a lot going on

nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 does your team plan to integrate ecash into ZeusPay software? Could it possibly be a solution to the zaplocker friction?

Would be so nice to have instant / private ecash capabilities in a wallet with LN and onchain functionality. Esp if ecash was interoperable with lightning. This is my dream for a wallet.

can you explain why and/or send me some reading material? i’m not familiar with ecash

Thanks! This works and it’s simple enough for me to figure out

Phoenix Wallet does this for you. Aqua Wallet offers something similar but keeps the Bitcoin on Liquid—you can still use it for Lightning. Check them out!

Up until phoenix was banned from USA that was a good option. Seems like I can still send out of that wallet, maybe it still works. Something like a 3k sat fee for any amount to transfer BTC to lightning. Also Aqua works well for BTC to L-BTC. A little vague from a user experience as to whether it’s lightning or liquid. Muun wallet can send or receive from BTC or lightning, so maybe try receiving BTC with Muun then sending it to a lightning only wallet?

I'm curious to know why phoenix was banned?

Maybe not banned, I’m sure there’s someone that knows better than me. I think it was concern over legal and being considered a broker/launderer/threat-to-beauracracy 😂🤷‍♂️ don’t trust, verify 🫡🤝

- You can send in #btc via #lightning

- It automagically stores as #liquid

- You can swap between liquid and onchain, and vice versa

- You can send from your liquid balance as a lightning transaction

Great product! nostr:npub1ajlrwgfj4yerhqf7ady03h7wmtk2qr3gs7h3sxcx83k05yld36sswpzx3q

I'd love to use #liquid, but I'm not sure what would happen to my funds if Blockstream were to be raided by authorities or go bankrupt.

What would happen to your funds if your fiat bank was raided?

I never keep a large balance on #liquid, but just enough so that I can swap to #onchain, or #lightning, as I see fit.

I suppose, in my limited understanding, I accept the possibility of a @Blockstream raid as a trade off against possible forced channel closes on lightning. Also, as I understand it, it's much more difficult than just raiding Blockstream, they would have to raid all the other liquid federation companies (like trying to acquire all keys to a geographically dispersed multisig - highly unlikely).

Not sure :-)

Muun wallet

In my experience, Muun is much better for going the other direction: Lightning to on-chain.

Where are you receiving to on the Lightning side?

If it is a custodial wallet, such as nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnrda5kummn9e5k7tcqyzagpxgxvmhskm6t55zex3a7kyey9ys723nfu6qqvn9825jk5836v8xsdxk then I would recommend Boltz.Exchange.

If it is self-custody, why not use your on-chain funds to open a channel? If you are using something like Phoenix wallet and send yourself on-chain funds, they will splice it into your channel for you.

Aqua and Muun but Muun is more of my go-to

You can receive BTC into a Coinos account and send out Lightning and vice versa. We charge 0.1% when you withdraw over another network than you deposited on.

For custodial, River or Strike can serve this purpose better than Coinbase. You don't have to leave funds with the custodian for long but can instead use them as a pretty seamless "swap" service to get in/out of Lightning.

For non-custodial, Aqua is probably the simplest. Requires a couple steps because you have to peg in or out between Liquid <> on-chain BTC. Funds at rest are L-BTC, but you can pay Lightning invoices, which happen via a Boltz swap under the hood.

Blockstream's Green wallet also makes it pretty easy to receive on-chain BTC to automatically open new channels and enable LN payments.

If you run your own node, you can send it directly there. Seed phrase backup and everything.

On chain funds can then be spent to open channels, purchase inbound liquidity, whatever suits you. This is a hot wallet so understand the tradeoffs and risks. It’s a dive, but this is a decent starting point.
