Two servings I will never understand:

- Shrimp with tails on

- Large fish pieces with bones on

The flavor does not change at all - do the test. You will need a large amount of bones or shrimp shells to change the taste of the dish. And you can do that sauce separately, strain it, and pour it over the item.

It's just very annoying to eat.

thats more work for the cook 😁

Eat the shells, especially if fried. It’s good for you. Pretty common in some cultures, and probably good for your teeth and jaws to not always eat soft foods.

i think it's about cost & competition more work for the kitchen means higher price for their time. If they can keep the price lower by leaving them, I get it.

Is this coctails shrimps ?

If you've ever prepared shrimp you'll know it's a lot easier to just let the people eating it remove the shells themselves.

You could make the same argument for cooking and preparing anything for someone else.

Is it? I mean.. they are already removing the shells and deveining the shrimp.. The tail can just be pulled off when they are raw

I also see people in the emergency department with pieces stuck in their throats.

The best part is in savouring the fish “juice” that you get only by eating the flesh off the bones. Suck on the bones and you’ll see. Some fish better than others. 😉 Same with prawn/shrimp heads, shells and “legs”. 😋

Don't come to South East Asia, you will hate it here... ;)

Exactly. I'm able to totally agree that it makes no difference based on a lifetime's worth of experience

A big ol whole fish simply looks so much more glorious than some miserable little filet .. Satoshi thought so too!

Sure, but I don't eat by looking at things.

Fish bones bother me a lot too. But all in all, fish in general is one of my favorite dishes 🤷‍♂️😂

The shrimp tail is a convenient handle. But I suppose you could use a fork.

Why would you handle the shrimp? Forks or chopsticks work better.
