Bitcoin “address” was a terrible choice to name what it is

BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

“Mining” was also a poor choice of words.

What do you suggest? public key hash? lock script?

“bitcoin invoice” is a familiar word and people would be less confused; you don’t send money “from” an invoice

I like that. I may start calling it by a more human meaningful name with you.

The term "Bitcoin address" was born at a time of single-key wallets. Back then, it was more than a single invoice. Also an invoice typically contains an amount.

I agree that now, invoice would be the less confusing term but as people still heavily re-use addresses, it's not going to change and some wallets changing it will only create chaos.

Nothing is more poorly named than "nonce".

I win the game.

People who use Bitcoin dont need to know what a nonce is. Like how people use a car and don't know what a spark plug is.

I’m sure it’ll eventually change and evolve as language does, but I do liken it to sending cash through the post office to anyone (address) in the world without the fear of it being intercepted. You also get to choose how fast it will get there (ground, priority, express, etc.) depending on fee.

Why? It makes sense to me, but maybe I am missing something.

Name something associated with your person that changes every time someone wants to send ylu something. "Address" ain't it. Addresses are largely static. It's a notable event when you change addresses.

I like keys in a keychain where an 'address' is a key, and the keychain is the 'wallet'

Nah it makes sense, especially when explaining it to newbies with email addresses as examples now that we have email aliases/ one time emails provided by apple and proton.

At best is not an ideal choice, but most certainly not terrible

+1. Key chains or whatever the ops are trying to change it to are way worse
