any mention of “dollarization” in situations like the one argentina is in will always cause the existing monetary unit to plummet. this is due to spooking investors, not “dollarization” or a “far-right” candidate. this sort of cynical, misleading headline is fucking journalistic malpractice and should cost someone their job. unfortunately, it’s become the norm for the “paper of record”. very difficult to see.
