Can you recommend any good science fiction books? Currently in a Greg Evans rabbit hole myself.

I just finished Quantum Radio by A.G. Riddle. It was the first book of his that I've read, as recommended by a friend of mine. I liked the story telling and pacing, he left a lot of open questions until the very end and it quickly all came together. There were some technical aspects that threw me off around comms and software, however a good read.

Greg Egan? Some of his books look pretty interesting.

I like the foundation series by Asimov and Gibson's The Sprawl Trilogy

I didn't finish foundation, because it felt endless. Otherwise Isaac is great, but Foundation is huge and some parts are so stretched to fill the pages. However just I, robot is easy and awesome. Also idk if you guys know Harry Harrison, pick his Steel rat to have some laughs. It's between action, scifi and maybe fantasy, very lighthearted and stupid in a smart way.

Dune is also a good series. The 1st book is a beast to get through but the sequels were also good

My dad gave me Dune and Cyberiad when I was like eight, that wasn't easy reading.👀😅 I don't have all the Dunes, because they're hard to find, but many are very great. Some slide to sex and weirdness and it lost grip for me. But overall the universe is spectacular.

Dune is pretty good, some of the prequels were also good (read quite awhile ago), though I've heard mixed reviews.

Hyperion, Dune (obviously), Book of the New Sun (more or less sci-fi), Cryptonomicon, Seveneves

FINALLY SOMEONE WITH HYPERION!

I raise my glass to you, good man.

it was so so so so good. Did you read the whole series?

It was wild to me how different each book was both in narrative style but also in what was covered in the fictional universe. I really didn't see the (ultimate) ending coming when I was halfway through the first book, but goddamn was it satisfying (and deeply emotionally wrenching!)

I didn't like some super freaky parts like why do --- endlessly suffer on the --- thorny - avoiding spoilers here😅 But the wraps were always huge. I also hated Endymion on the first take, the romantic end felt so overdone to me. But overall it's one of the best sci-fi's I've ever read. The gods thing, gates, the creatures of freedom resonated with me, it was mindblowing even over the annoying parts. What's his name, C...? Well he wrote horrors, did scifi once and it shows. #hyperion #endymion It's like some Dunes before Herbert got sleazy and senile.

Yea I was really against Endymion at first for the same reason and then DAMM it hit me in the feels, as they say.

And yes, there were some deeply freaky parts. Lol the breadth of this series is insane. It hits everything.

I think the biblical cross vibe and sacrifice and love and save was too much. My husband shed a tear, I'm a cold bitch. 👀😅 Most people complain that the series is slow, the story of those seven travellers, but for me it was, especially Hyperion, slow absolute boil. That electric forest? God damn. Gates, DAMN. And .. and .. and.. DAAAMN.

You know what, actually

#scifi #bookstr

Haha!

I just finished it this year but I might reread it also

Kyberiáda (Cyberiad? I guess) from Stanislaw Lem. Tiny, weird, freaky, something else. That guy was a playful genius.

Snow crash; the diamond age - Neil Stephenson

The metamorphosis of prime intellect

This! Also the Red Rising series.

“There is no anti-memetics division” is a short read and interesting idea.

The writing isn’t great, but if you can get past that it’s fun to think about.

It’s set in a world where there are “ideas” and creatures that are impossible to remember after encountering them. Some of them wipe your memory while others destroy you and everyone else’s memory of you.

Through Amazon Kindle Unlimited ($10/month) you can basically read unlimited sci-fi… below is a list of authors you can read with that membership and it’s a mix of sci-fi / fantasy / litRPG 🙏🏼

I'd recommend The Player of Games, by Iain M. Banks

The Three Body Problem is amazing (must read all three books!). And there is even a pretty decent Netflix series now.
