For less than the cost of 2 meal combos at McDonalds I got paleo chicken and paleo roasted cauliflower for lunch from Whole Foods for me and my daughter. I’m tired of the lie that healthy food is more expensive. It can be, sure , but it doesn’t have to be.

I just paid $20 for a burrito and bowl of soup at BajaFresh… No drink, nothing else..

This cost $17, fed us both, and there’s leftovers enough for a lunch. Food prep in advance helps for busy days when you’re on the go. 🙏

If you buy meat, dairy, seafood, fruits, and vegetables you can actually get quite a bit of food for the money. Add in nuts, seeds, granola in bulk and you’ve got a really well equipped fridge vs if shop the filler aisles in the middle for filler foods for *your* middle.

Thing is, people prioritize convenience over quality in so many areas. It’s easier to drive through than to park and go in to a store for something that isn’t just better for you, but tastes better too.

I love to cook! Cooking is proof of work af. It’s also how I nurture. Hosting dinner parties for my friends is one of my favorite ways to entertain. Home is west the sustenance is. 🫶 Cooking is truly a ritual and a labor of love.

* home is WHERE the sustenance is 🤦‍♀️

💯 Just put eggplant and broccoli tossed in home made tallow in the oven , about to put in some salmon - spent less than half than eating out, will make people happy ( and healthy ) and will have leftovers . Proof of work indeed

I’m trying to clean up my diet. I picked up chicken, pork chops, and beef (all cheap cuts) then a bag of potatoes, broccoli, squash, and a bag of Brussels sprouts for $27. Turned it into 3 meals for a family. You have to plan but it can be done

Good for you!! Prepping some meat in advance makes it easy to not stray because if you feel like grazing or are busy you’ve got yummy things to just grab. 🫶

Awesome!

I'm in a similar process. I eat better than before, but more work is needed.

I’ve become obsessed with roasting vegetables

YES! You can get such diverse results. Toss with any seasoning, olive oil and butter! For lazy nights I love to put the protein and veggies on one sheet pan together.

You're not wrong

We started supporting a local beef farm some years ago. For a while the higher-than-grocery-store prices they charged seemed too high to justify, but I stuck with them.

Fast forward to now, our food budget very clearly costs less per month, and we all feel excellent!

Pro tip: Every so often in my friend group we will pool our money and go in on a cow. Better quality and better cost!

Holy cow!

lol
