I'm really torn right now. Neighborhood cats are making this garden a hard thing to achieve. I love cats, but right now I want to Do harm because they keep shitting in my beds and almost killed one of my plants last night.

People used to put plastic bottles 90% filled with water on their side near their plants to deter cars. Not sure if that's just an old wives tale or if cats don't like the bubble in it, in the sunlight? Or get a dog.
Two people have told me to get a dog. I can't fucking get a dog.
Yeah, you should get at least two.
😑
Lean into it and grow catnip? May as well get the cats high af…
I did wonder if putting catnip in the corner somewhere would keep them in that area, but I don't really want to attract them. I'm trying to keep them away.
Spray em with a hose if you spot them, they'll learn eventually. Or install laser pointers that move towards the neighbours garden and then turn off. They'll chase themselves out. 🤣
Can you print out some cat jpegs to mark your territory?
Drown the cunts.
Dont tempt me.
Fight them Mano a Mano. Display your dominance 💪
You can lay this plastic fencing on the ground of the garden. They wont shit there because it makes it dificult to scratch the ground. Or a pellet gun works also.

Wouldn't that hamper a plant's growth? I'm not opposed to doing something like that if it works, though.
I've heard sticking a bunch of plastic forks, tines side up, helps but I feel like I'd need way more than are feasible. Lol.
Huh, that might be a really cheap way to do it. We have a bunch of plastic forks we never use. Maybe my roommate's hording tendency will actually be useful. 🤣
I only have 4, 4x8 beds, so it's not like I have a lot of space that I need to protect.
Worth a shot?
It would be something I could do much more immediately if these repellent pellet things don't work.
I'm just a little frustrated because I have to leave on a work trip Monday of next week and I won't be here to monitor the garden. My roommate will be watering but he's not going to put effort into keeping the cats away.
I didn't think the neighborhood cats would be this much of a problem, but it goes to show what I know. 😅
they do dig up the garden and poop in it and pee in it and that can be bad sometimes
when i had a lot of pot plants i found that those puffed ceramic balls were good to cause them to get distracted chasing the balls around. won't work so well with older cats but if there's a lot of them around it will at least distract the ones under 2 years of age
Inknow foil can work on counters but I'd be afraid of the damage it could do to a garden. I wonder if one of those fake owls would deter them at all.
Some people have suggested plastic fencing and I think the goal is just to effectively stop the cats from being able to scratch at the ground easily.
I have been debating getting one of those like sonic cat deterrents that are solar powered and they play a noise anytime a cat gets close to scare them away but considering most of these cats are bold feral cats I'm not exactly sure how well that would go
This is why I have indoor cats. They never go outside.
Don't hurt him. Give them food and domesticate them 🤷♂️
