It’s a nice “feature”, whether or not it was intended. It encourages authenticity.

yeah, i have many more people muted than what this is reporting.
I find the muted list on nostrudel is more accurate. This one only shows 2-3 mutes per npub. Is it a work in progress ?

Muting not being private makes it kinda pointless.
why is it pointless? if i mute you, it's because i don't want to see your content. you can continue to create that content and post it, but i don't have to see it. both parties win.

I imagine I’m not the only one who would want the fact ive muted you to be private. I shouldn’t have to announce to the world that I’m specifically not “listening” to you.

Mutes on Amethyst are private.
My mutes on Amethyst seem to get overwritten from time to time 😩
Probably by other clients that don't support private mutes.
I was trying to make people aware over a year ago but noone cared, so it's still what it was.
Try muting on amethyst and then mute someone on one of the other clients. See if the mute is still there and which one kills it. I don't know but Im suspecting the usual.
I thought I last experienced the issue with Primal, but I'm not certain.
Nostrudel and amethyst have separate lists, these two didn't mess with each other. I use these two mostly can't speak for others.
Amethyst also had a bug for a time where it wouldn't decrypt your mute list correctly with Amber, which made it seem like your list was wiped.

Pokey is actually using the mutelist. The problem is:
- there is asmalll bug where not always a hell thread OP is found
- Pokey only connects to your inbox relays. If your mute list is not there its not going to find it. I try to make Pokey to use a few connections as possible because in Android there is are limitations. I need to think on the best way to manage that.

mine shows I haven't muted anyone. On Amethyst I don't even see a way to mute someone. I only see an option to block people. I've blocked around 10 profiles but it doesn't show on that website.
I think profiles should show how many people have blocked you/muted you and how many profiles that profile has blocked/muted.
We need more transparency on Nostr.
This website doesn't seem to very overly accurate, but it's all public information and very transparent. It just needs to be displayed better. Nostrudel does a good job for this.
It says I have an empty mute list (incorrect) muted by, which is more interesting because I know who I muted, is coming soon.
Unless of course I searched based on a fake copycat profile. It doesn't allow npub search yet, another ding on it's usefulness.

jumble has encrypted the mute list, so it is private. Other clients may not necessarily be private
Yes, I mean, because we have tools that shows mute as public, would be good when we mute someone using Jumble, show in UI that the mute, in Jumble case, is private.

To see who-follows-who is a positive feature, to see who-mutes/blocks-who a negative.
There's a reason this feature isn't implemented in tradsoc, because it fires up tribalism and division like crazy. I mute some people that I like, they simply post too much or use caps lock which annoys me. I don't dislike them but now they think I do and so a completely unnecessary, useless and negative cycle of misunderstanding has started.
I can imagine some accounts getting very excited seeing they've been blocked by loads of people but they can see that already anyway right?
Not that interested to be honest. I take every npub on a P2P basis. If they've been blocked by a popular money enthusiast it doesn't really bother me.

I think I made a script to get the list of people that mute an npub using nak. I can try and look for it if you really want it.
I don't think it recognizes Amethysts block/mutes. I muted a shit load of Reply Guys and Gals.
