The guy who murdered the United Healthcare CEO was clearly not a professional hitman.

In the video of the shooting you can see that his handgun suppressor is not properly configured and every shot results in a failure to eject, requiring him to manually rack the slide after each shot in order to load another round.

Subsonic ammunition

Ah yeah I was wondering what he was doing. Subsonic rounds sometimes don't eject properly.

45acp fixes this.

Loud even with suppression, but yeah. That sucker will cycle.

Only 22 is ever really quiet (handgun rounds only considered since that is what was used)

You can use even cci mini mags out of a silenced handgun and still be subsonic and cycle most semi auto handguns in 22lr. The fps ratings are rifle based.

9mm are supersonic unless you deload or use 147gr bullets. Deloading will cause cycling issues. I have yet to try 147s in mine to say.

Interesting. I didn't realize all the fps ratings were rifle based.

For rifle rounds I have heard the 300 Blackouts can be very quiet, but haven't ever tried with suppression.

Toy shopping maybe next year as I imagine some of the regulations will ease up and the corn crop will be bountiful.

Also check out 8.6 Blackout with 1:3 twist

It depends on the round. Handgun rounds will be based on handgun barrel lengths. Rifle rounds based on rifle lengths.

22lr stands for 22 long rifle, so rifle fps calculations and not all the powder burns in and handgun barrel so they are slower. This is part of why 22 silencers get so dirty so fast and are such a pain to clean.

I still need to build myself a blackout upper, this conversation is giving me an itchy credit card. I will say that 556 out of a short barrel is loud as hell even with a silencer.

I appreciate the depth of your knowledge on this. Always grateful to learn something new πŸ™

First hand experience with NFA items is rare but very valuable for cutting through the giant wall of misinformation being repeated on the internet by people who don't have real world experience.

Happy to help clear up myths where I know the facts.

Interesting, that makes sense. On a silenced semi auto that is subsonic the action causes a significant part of the sound.

Manually cycling the action is much quieter because it is after the suppressor has done its job. A semi auto opens quick enough to allow some of the bang to come back out of the chamber.

On second watching I can kind of see him panicking as the gun doesn't operate the way he expected.

Interesting that there would be a concerted effort to create the professional assassin narrative.

Makes sense. They don't want more regular people getting the idea that this is doable for the other cantillionaires.

That was my thought as well

Can't confirm authenticity, I've never seen suppression like this... but I want to believe it's real. https://video.nostr.build/c6f0df0597f45c8702a712a6727a5fa138427dce357690e2e27b0b5feaff4e84.mp4

Looks bogus to me. Just the action sliding home would be louder than that compared to his voice.

There is no magic in a suppressor. The action running is exactly as loud as if you pull it back and let it go to chamber a round.

People with self respect can't see what is being said behind that link.

I shoot 147 exclusively. Everything cycles and is very quiet. FRP sounds like something happened, but everything else sounds like whacking a pillow with a broom handle. I usually shoot Federal HST or reloads.

Good to know. I need to work up a load.

Likely

Might give clues to the can. Maybe one of the multi-caliber ones and they didn't put the booster in. Maybe a DIY.

So many things wrong with this whole thing that I can't keep track of them all.

Now they're saying it's a VP9 from B&T. Guess I should've known it would be the least-logical, most obscure thing possible to use.

God's caliber

Also no gloves…

Yet NY still thinks gun laws stop criminals, especially in NYC πŸ™„

Subs were to lite. 147gr are recommend even though 158gr are tempting.

Gotta start somewhere

He's still at large after an assassination of a fortune 500 CEO in Manhattan itself, so I wouldn't write him off that easily

He seems to deal with it very deftly, however.

He still managed to keep his cool despite the circumstances.

By design:

This updated, integrally suppressed pistol features a new grip and updated magazines, yet maintains its non-descript appearance, whisper-quiet sound signature and unique rotating bolt operation. This model in 9mm wears a 3-in. barrel. It finds its operational success as a magazine-fed, non-auto-ejecting single-shot functioning in a rotational bolt action. It is beautifully enhanced by wipe suppressor, and a baffled suppressor is an available option for those who prefer that design.
