Walls aren't meant to be loaded horizontally, so I lsuggest a stand of some kind. I have some tensahedron stands, both DIY and bought. https://www.tensaoutdoor.com makes really nice ones that travel well.

Our kid sleeps in a hammock every night, no bed at all. He has one from Jared at https://simplylightdesigns.com/

Short answer: Do it.

If you know what thickness your studs are you can make do. I prefer a stand. Got rid of the mattress for a hammy 6 years ago and I’ve been sleeping like an angel ever since. It is really great for indoor temperature control if you have an under and top quilt, and a fan. Also very easy to clean and way affordable compared to a full bed. If you’re sleeping solo it is great. Fun and awkward for group activities. I wouldn’t recommend sharing to sleep. As we all know women are heat thieves composed entirely or elbows and knees made from chisels.

😂 we were just discussing how much it sucks that we like sleeping next to each other as we were looking at a new mattress. And the fact that there isn't room for two stands in our bedroom. 10/10 would sleep in a hammock every night.

Also children. When the boy was 4, I thought I'd just let him sleep with me so he wouldn't get too freaked out by the nighttime critters and noises. Bad idea. I don't think I've ever been that miserable, before or since. I can't imagine being in a hammock with a whole ass woman.

Tried it once. Almost died of hypothermia and I’m positive she was trying to scrimshaw my hip and rib bones. Misery.

I've been curious to try this but it is a fat stack of sats just to find out unless you know another crazy person nearby who will let you try it.

I have a couple of DIY stands that are made of galvanized chain link fence top rails and loops of steel cable. They're heavy, but cheap and effective. If you drill and lash them in the right spot, they'll even allow you to use an 11' tarp.

This is a great starter hammock, also. It has all the stuff you need to hang, with a stand or from trees. https://simplylightdesigns.com/collections/hammocks/products/the-starter

That might still be pricey, but it's an efficient way to get started. Having a basic hammock and stand around is always good for maximum lounging capability. The naps are EXTREME.
