i was on an interent and nostr haiatus for about a month and had a lovely "nothing's happening that matters to my life" feeling.
i peek back at nostr today and feel like things are on fire. so tell me, is my timing just good - or is it the case that globally-networked communitations (even nostr) naturally skews towards sky is falling content at all times?
i think i'm going to go back under my rock and write a book and some software. you guys seem to be holding down the fort. 🫡

He had a gun last I saw. Was disarmed a second before he was shot, by one of may wrestling with him. Legal carrier. That's all I know. I don't wanna dissect and argue it but that's the facts I've seen so far. Correct me if I'm wrong

The gun was removed off him, by an agent, then they shot him.
one agent in the fray knew he removed the gun. that doesn't mean they all knew. the shooter may have seen an empty holster and (incorrectly) assumed the victim drew it.
this doesn't excuse the whole situation, and federal agents can fuck themselves, but its important to be prudent with the details.
that's where i stood until i watched the videos.
i think there's a way in which the use of force may have actually been reasonable (perhaps: one agent removed the gun off the victim, another agent may have seen the gun missing, figured the victim drew it, fired. still not totally perfect use of force, but not completely off). but the video made me more aware of the ridiculousness of the whole wider context. and how much the state is getting even more overpowered than usual.

That's the thing: it doesn't need to be like that! We're doing something really wrong if everything is so aggravating but the actual consequences in real life are tested by your experience, and appear to be zero. So why are we focusing on content that makes us feel so alarmed, when it has very little to do with us, and has no consequences on our lives? We ruin relationships over it too!
