I know but the plans is way too expensive if you're not a content creator. I'd be in if there were a "casu nostriche plan" with just 1,5GB for like 6000 sats/year.
I bought one because I like the project. I basically use it like a better google drive. I suspect that you're paying in other ways when you use the free stuff. Although it is definitely not worth it for most casual users.
They've done great fine-tuning their product and I hope they continue to succeed.
Same, I want this to exist in the world and don't have the coding chops or time to do it myself so I pay them - feels like a win - win for me at least.
I love the metadata stripping that it offers. There are some features that could be improved but being able to post images I can later choose to delete is a plus.

Or you can just pay for the service that does it all for you… you pay with your time and the cloud server you use for hosting your blossom server
It used to be free to the world, non-nostr people were abusing the service, now it’s just free to Nostr people. Still fair. Hosting your own server is highly recommended, please feel free to use any of our code on GitHub.

If I already have a shared web hosting server, can I simply deploy it there? Doesn’t seem like I need to use AWS if it’s just for my own content?

You can still upload images and videos without an account through the NIP-96 client connection. The upload is just for one item at a time, but you get a nostr.build URL to access the item. Not sure how long they keep them, though.
