The practice of law is an artificial "Rube Goldberg" machine sadistically overcomplicated in a way that only benefits lawyers. If you get the impression from your lawyer that he has secret knowledge, fire that mother fucker. We are paper-plumbers and that's all. We've created a system that is lousy with rules and procedures to make it impossible to navigate unless you're paid ridiculous sums to learn to do so. The law should be available to everyone. Imagine your friend invites you over to play board games, but tonight you're playing the board game he invented, and he knows the rules to, and you have to start playing in 10 minutes and he says, well you can just ask me questions while we play or here read this 300 page rule set I wrote, no? Ok, then just rely on me and oh whoops I win.
This is an unsustainably stupid profession, and yet I must feed my family.
