Who is your website intended for?
What outcome do you seek of your target customer?
Current and potential clients seeking Education, and lawn/landscape/gardening services.
1) Its not clear on front page where you offer these services.
Alaska? Costa Rica? Georgia?
2) If your objective is for customers to book a phone call with you, this should be your main (and preferably sole ) CTA. Make this button visible everywhere, on all pages!
Right now Im seeing a 5% discount on paying with btc as a pop-up, whereas it seems your website is geared towards prospective customers who are thinking “is this business credible” when considering your services.
If you are in a place where btc is widely accepted - great! If not, consider offering btc preference when this prospective customer is qualified to a real paying customer (e.g. during checkout flow, after theyve used your services).
3) does your contact # allow for texts? Do you want customers to text you (may be easier or preferred for some customers over other communication methods)?
4) I see there is a tip me with lightning section - this is great for content websites without a business model. In your case, selling services is your business model. Consider that a “tip” button might confuse a prospective customer - they may be confused if you write articles, or offer in person gardening services.
This is all great advice.
Yo, this is great feedback. Thank you for putting some of this into perspective for me. I’ll take these notes into consideration during my next updates.
Agreed on location of services. I see the location in “contact us” but when I first visit the page I’m trying to quickly assess is this relevant to me. For me I think that means location and approximate price.
When I click on “appointments” in the menu it sends me to a plant nursery website I think you want it to take you to the same place as when you go to Contact > appointment.
I want to see prices. Maybe an “explore our services” page where each of the services you offer are priced out on a hypothetical piece of land that is typical of your target customer. Or just that scenario after you introduce each service on the services page. I want to be able to get enough information from your site without talking to you yet, what the service I am interested in will approximately cost. I also don’t want to be surprised when we actually speak on this appointment and you get all the details on my property and can finally quote it. I know that can be hard but I only want to be surprised down in price. Surprised up in price and I’m going to hesitate, if I can get sufficient information to know this is what I want then I will be motivated to make the next step of seeking an appointment if our chat is as good or better than what I was anticipating. If I can’t get that information in advance I will have more hesitation to set up the call and probably won’t. I don’t want to have an awkward phone call where I tell you I’m not interested because of price or whatever the thing is that I’m surprised by in a negative way.
The text is more difficult to read than most sites. It doesn't need to be black and white, but more contrast might help.
I like the pictures, especially on the front page.
People have already commented on the location being unclear at first glance. I'd add that mentioning that some of your services (like classes, planning, etc.) might be helpful to people across a wide section of North America. That way people don't see Oklahoma and think they should stop paying attention because they are in Iowa.
I don't expect you'd be an expert on native plants in both Flordia, Nevada and Montana, so knowing what areas you're comfortable with would be helpful. It might be helpful to day you cover something like the midwestern USA, or between the Rockies and the Atlantic, or whatever the case may be.
Overall, I like the concept and might even be able to send some people your way if you can cover East Central Illinois and have rates my friends can afford.
Thank you for the feedback. I’ll definitely consider that target audience a little more. I really like the idea of opening up the services for a more broad area. That would help widen that funnel of potential clients.
Your home page should immediately hit me with images of your most beautiful work vs a wall of text
Great point! Hit the page and be in instant awe. Thank you
Overall needs more pictures and add videos - ton of good advice from other commenters. I found it frustrating I didn’t know where you were or if you could help me.
Need a list of all the services on the home page (you appear to have a lot of services but I had to dig). 2nd the general idea of cost to prevent wasted time for everyone.
The advice I read in the FAQ seemed very good but kinda out of place as it didn’t seemed linked to service but more informative. Are you avoiding or did I miss the permaculture overlap? Lastly, is there any way to make the plant store more integrated?
Good luck and keep going!
Thanks for your thoughts. The store currently is an affiliate nursery until I can have more time to build my own stock.
You hang around with this Bitcoin crowd long enough you’ll get there! Rome wasn’t build in a day and your business will take time to grow.
Yes that’s exactly right. The business is only a year and a half new and I have so many skills and services to offer that it’s a little difficult to filter my skills down to just one or two services. I’m in a sort of cast net approach currently to see where the leads will generate from.
I was apart of a similar business and the week to week stuff was profitable but we made bank for Fall and Spring cleanups - we were more likely to get that business with the lawn mowing.
Yep that’s how it’s playing out for us so far. The mowing keeps the cash flow and the landscape installs are the big ticket items.
unblockable pop ups are a BIG turn off for me
The large logo in menu doesn't fit with the rest of the design, maybe cut it down to just the little plant icon in a circle?
More, more, more pictures on the front page! Even if they're duplicate from portfolio.
Appointments link is unnecessary, that info could go on contact page and give more space on the menu
Super annoying fade in effect slows everything down, all the nice stuff I want to see is below the fold or on a different random page. The over all experience of browsing and looking around takes too much effort, I feel thwarted
Thank you for your input.
