Experienced this just this morning.
trying out nostr for the first time. added some relays from nostr.watch but the snort.social client isn't fetching new posts after scrolling a bit. what would you recommend?
You say that if Nostr would have received all Twitter volume, we would be having rate limits here? :)
Absolutely there'd be changes if volume was higher. E.g.
- paid relays would be more popular
- free relays would send promotional/ad messages regularly
- image hosts would do ad injection

Global state is unnecessary, the _coherent view_ of a given participant of the network is what matters. Exactly like the Lightning Network
