Last year I informally proposed to change the term “mining” to something else.

People didn’t like that idea.

I still think we should.

We can also stop calling wallets wallets.

Instead of always being on the defense we can deprive the opposition of things to use against bitcoin .

Just cause.

Nodes = validators

Miners = propagators

Wallets = passports

1 and 2 ok but don’t need passports 😂

I concur because of how we perceive passports now.

Passports historically were a tool used to measure origin and destination, not permission to travel.

So Wallets are just tracking UTXOs, which is why my mind stuck on passport lol.

I'm sure someone has something better tho 😁😁😁

Precisely

Nailed it!

And mining would be what? For example. And wallet what would you call it?

Can be anything. We can make up a term if we want.

More if we want something for the big crowd. It has to be terms that she can understand.

It doesn’t matter what we call it - the point is that the current terminology is stupid and we can do better.

Nothing better if asking Einstein, but back then they didn’t understand IT yet, since a binary reality.

From which before the consensus need to maintain a consensus of truths was the need to make nothing as an out.

I’m afraid the idea of a man to uphold the facts of time is simply outdated and made obsolete by it.

🤷‍♂️💭

Mining - Bitcoin production

Nodes - Bitcoin computers

Wallets - Bitcoin accounts

It's going to get even more complicated...

What's your sub for wallet?

Block producers

noncers

chronologists

I like mining...it conveys an effort and getting something valuable in return after "working"...you may or may not get a return just like in mining...you have to get lucky at times.

Wallet is a Signing Device...basically.

Instead of wallet let’s just call them storage units.

A wallet is just an interface. Most are graphical, so it's a GUI or UI.

Absolutely agree. Words have connotation. They matter. The alpha geeks pick words that their sub-culture understands and then they don’t understand why the majority folks don’t get it and then they retreat to dropping meme’s and quippy snarks, which only does more to frustrate well intended learners and slow progress. I’ve been trying to navigate it for two decades with various devs. There’s a weird ego/nerd pride in it which ironically prevents them from achieving the ends they claim to be about. Humans maaan.
